  3. 3. ESSENTIAL INFORMATION Shanghai short and sweet Shanghai lies on the east coast of China, south of Beijing and north of Hong Kong. The city is divided by the Huang Pu river. The financial district lays to the east (Pudong) while VOK DAMS Shanghai and the former French concession lay to the west (Puxi). There are two airports in Shanghai. Pu Dong and Hong Qiao. Make sure you know which one you’re going to as they are on opposite ends of the city. It should take ap- proximately an hour from 3 Pudong airport to the city center (approx 170RMB) and be- tween 30 and 40 minutes from Hongqiao airport (80RMB).
