  2. 2. Todocument the language, arts , culture and festivities of an indigenous group in the Tan-awan Village. Study and document the different aspects of Balsa Trade. Document indigenous medical practices and indigenous food and its preparation. To develop a research-based cultural show entitled “Teatro balsa”.To integrate research findings in the curriculum and publish research results for dissemination and utilization.

  4. 4. Barter Trade/Economics andAgricultural Practices. To study the different facets of barter tradefrom production of agricultural crops and itssustainability, transportation of products fromfarms to the barter trade area. To know the unwritten rules in bartertrading and its economic implications.
  5. 5. Tan-awan Dances and Folksongs Associated withRituals, Ceremonies, Beliefs and Practices. To know what dances they have in Barangay Tan-awanand if they are associated with their rituals, ceremonies, beliefsand practices. To determine why and how are these dances performed.What are the significance of the steps and movements? To know what are the different musical instruments usedas accompaniment to the different dances associated withrituals, ceremonies, beliefs and practices and how are theybeing played.
  6. 6. Legends and Folklore and Local Dialects. To document the legends, folkloresand local dialects as they were handeddown from generation to generation. A retrieval of legends and folklores topreserve it for the succeeding generations.
  7. 7. Local food preparation and medicinalpractices. To document the preparation andingredients of local foods especially those thatare considered as specialty in the area andthose prepared on special occasions. To document the medicinal practices ofthe village including the materials beingused, its preparation and application .

Expected Outcome:•Research will be able to document the varioustraditional/indigenous knowledge and practices of thecommunity.•Research findings will be utilized in the localproduction of “Teatro Balsa”.•A workshop will be conducted on how to integrateresearch findings in the curriculum.•Publish research findings for dissemination andutilization.
