ANNOUNCEMENTS
In light of the positive results achieved by Souk At-Tanmia’s first edition launched in July 2012 and a
second edition in April 2014, and given the U.S. government and Souk Partners’ continued commit-
ment to fighting unemployment in Tunisia by fostering entrepreneurship, a third edition was
launched in March 2017 to support entrepreneurs.
By the end of the third edition, this entrepreneurship program will have assisted in the creation of
more than 270 businesses and create 2,330 jobs throughoutthe 24 Tunisian governorates, placing
particular emphasis on underserved areas and supporting disadvantaged groups such as women and
youth.
The project with BFPME, called Souk At-Tanmia, allows us to work together with government, the
public and private sectors, and civil society to tap into the entrepreneurial spirit and enable youth to
find solutions to some of the country’s most pressing problems. It provides technical, financial, and
access to market services.
The 4 million TND allocated in the first edition of this program assisted in the creation of 61 projects,
54% of which were created by youth (18-35 years old), and 33% by women. The 12 million TND alloca-
ted in the second edition assisted inthe creation of 100 projects, of which 66% were created by youth
and 36% by women.
The beneficiaries of the third edition will receive a grant amount proportional to their project needs
with a ceiling of approximately TND 50,000/ $25,000, thanks to the U.S. government and other
donors’ contributions.
