  3. 3. Two Parent Biological <ul><li>“ A two-parent biological family consists of parents and the children who are from the union of these parents” </li></ul>
  4. 4. Blended family <ul><li>“ The blended family consists of two adults and their children, all of whom may not be from the union of their relationship” </li></ul>
  5. 5. Committed Partners <ul><li>“ Committed partners may include married couples without children… and some gay male and lesbian partners.” </li></ul><ul><li>“ They may also be parents through previous relationships, adoption, or use of reproductive technology” </li></ul>
  6. 6. <ul><li>“ Extended family traditionally refers to that group of relatives living within a nearby geographic area” </li></ul>
  7. 7. <ul><li>The entire Pritchett extended family would be classified as connected on their cohesion level. </li></ul><ul><li>Shown here is a family photo they tried to take and used humor to diffuse a heated argument. </li></ul>
  8. 8. Adaptability at the Dunphy’s <ul><li>The Dunphy’s would be considered flexible on the adaptability scale. Sometimes Phil is the one in charge and sometimes Claire is the one in charge. </li></ul>
  9. 9. Adaptability at the Prichett’s <ul><li>The Prichett’s would be a mix of rigid and structured. Jay is in charge for most of the time and Gloria and Manny know their roles within the family. </li></ul>
  10. 10. Adaptability at the Pritchett-Tucker’s <ul><li>With Cameron and Mitchell we see both of them assuming the role as the leader depending on the situation. </li></ul>
  11. 11. <ul><li>Intimacy among the different family’s and family types. </li></ul>
  12. 12. The Pritchetts <ul><li>The Pritchett’s are not as intimate as the other families but they are a close family. They do not show the do not fall under the affectionate as much but they do spend a lot of time together and know each other really well. </li></ul>
  13. 13. The Pritchett-Tuckers <ul><li>Cameron and Mitchell are very close and intimate with each other. In public they do not show as much affection. This is due to Mitchell’s feelings toward PDA and his insecurities. </li></ul>
  14. 14. The Dunphys <ul><li>The Dunphy family a close family that shows affection to each other. This is a family that overall gets along very well and definitely has a high level of intimacy in their family. </li></ul>
  15. 15. Conflict Styles <ul><li>Claire and Phil have healthy conflict resolution styles. They often talk things out and have a high concern for others and themselves. </li></ul><ul><li>On the show they have been married for the longest and it is a direct result of the way they are able to work together through things. </li></ul>
  16. 16. <ul><li>Jay’s style of resolution favors much more into the concern for self. It would be considered avoiding. </li></ul><ul><li>Gloria on the other hand although very competitive when it comes to conflict she is is concerned for the other parties. Her conflict style is accommodation. </li></ul>
  17. 17. <ul><li>Mitchell and Cameron both show regard for each other in a time of conflict I would say that they are both are very accommodating during these times. </li></ul>
  18. 18. <ul><li>This family is a great representation of the different types of families and how they all communicate with each other. </li></ul><ul><li>They are all so different but are all apart of the same family. </li></ul>
