Yaseed Chaumoo – Designing for smiles (not sales)

Experience design has fast become the necessity in any digital business. Companies have learnt that a positive experience leads to a positive outlook in sales. However, the buzzword now in the hands of business owners is ‘best practice’. But we know that it’s really about what’s right for your users not just the business. At the moment, it looks as if we’re just improving on old experiences rather then understanding and defining their future ones. Let’s take a step back and analyse what we want to achieve. Improving the experience so that it is seamless for the user is the first step, but what follows? Wouldn't it be great if we designed for happiness? A smile, a smirk or a sense of positive acknowledgement. This talk will introduce you into a concept you are already familiar with but not aware. We will explore how tapping into emotions lead to unexpected results.
