Tablets are an ever-increasing presence in a number of application areas, including the medical space. Google has aggressively gone after the mobile device market, including partnering with ASUS to launch the Google Nexus 7. In 2012 Apple launched the iPad Mini, competing head-to-head with the Nexus 7. This teardown compares the two popular products, providing insight into the design process. After a brief stint in Marine Engineering at Cal Maritime, where he tinkered with big diesel engines and visited South America on the Training Ship Golden Bear, Andrew studied General Engineering at Cal Poly, San Luis Obispo. While there, he was quickly absorbed by his studies in Mechatronics, a multidisciplinary field of engineering that focuses on the combination of several kinds of engineering to design awesome systems.
