  2. 2. <ul><li>The total Geographical area of the state is 196.12 lacs hectares. </li></ul><ul><li>The Net cultivated area is about 94.99 lacs hect. </li></ul><ul><li>Out of which about 36.27 lacs hectares are under irrigation. </li></ul><ul><li>Two third of population in Gujarat is engaged in agriculture and earn livelihood directly from this occupation </li></ul>
  3. 3. <ul><li>There is a wide variation in rainfall . </li></ul><ul><li>Stress, Shortfall of rainfall during initial crop growing stage affect the crop growth. </li></ul><ul><li>Heavy rain after long dry spell also affect the standing crops and also soil erosion . </li></ul><ul><li>Heavy rainfall and Flood destroy the standing crops. </li></ul><ul><li>Crops like sugarcane, paddy, tur, jowar & maize etc are affected due to heavy rain. </li></ul><ul><li>Two main crop of the state - Groundnut and cotton are affected due to stress & resulted in lower production </li></ul><ul><li>Problem of Leptospiroses disease arise . </li></ul>
  4. 4. <ul><li>Some part of Gujarat is affected in coverage of irrigation due to less availability of irrigation water. </li></ul>
  5. 6. <ul><li>Implementation of village wise crop plan . </li></ul><ul><li>Contingency plan during stress and flood condition. </li></ul><ul><li>Provide technical guidance to the farmers at proper time. </li></ul><ul><li>Farmers also benefited under different agriculture development scheme. </li></ul>
  6. 7. <ul><li>Cereals : </li></ul><ul><li>Fine Cereals : Rice - Wheat </li></ul><ul><li>Coarse Cereals : Bajra - Jowar - Maize </li></ul><ul><li>Pulses : Gram - Urd - Moong </li></ul><ul><li>Oil seeds : Rapeseed - Mustard - Groundnut </li></ul><ul><li> Sunflower - Sesamum - Safflower </li></ul>
  7. 8. <ul><li>(i)   The entire production programmed has been designed according to natural resources available in various Agro climatic zones. </li></ul><ul><li>(ii)   To increase the coverage under quality seeds / planting material. </li></ul><ul><li>(iii)   To increase crop planting density with the help of latest technologies </li></ul><ul><li>(iv)   Bridging the gap between demonstrated yield and average yield. Encouraging the shift from high volume low value crop to low volume high value crop. </li></ul>

STRATEGIES FOR ACHIEVING THESE RESULT <ul><li>Judicious use of irrigation potential. </li></ul><ul><li>Saving of 30 % irrigation water by adopting drip and sprinkler irrigation system and there by increasing the irrigation intensity. </li></ul><ul><li>Easy ,assured and timely availability of quality agricultural inputs especially in remote and tribal areas. </li></ul><ul><li>Encouraging plant protection through integrated pest management. </li></ul>

STRATEGIES FOR ACHIEVING THESE RESULT <ul><li>Promoting the use of biotechnology and organic farming for enhanced value addition. </li></ul><ul><li>Facilitating high tech agriculture with greenhouse, tissue culture, drip irrigation etc. </li></ul><ul><li>To disseminate information of modern technology and related infrastructure through transmission of creative real time agricultural practices though mass media. </li></ul><ul><li>Direct link to farmers by the means of video conferencing. Regularly press notes about current issues for crop production given in vernacular news papers by agriculture department. </li></ul>

STRATEGIES FOR ACHIEVING THESE RESULT <ul><li>Focused special programs for tribal area and for small and marginal farmers to raise their income level above poverty line. </li></ul><ul><li>Coordination with non-Government organization. </li></ul><ul><li>Giving Soil Health Card to individual farmer. So that farmer can aware about soil, fertility status & use of fertilizer & by this way, knowing about soil, farmer of Gujarat should planned for crop in advanced. It will be helpful for planning for rabi crops. </li></ul>

NEW INTERVENTION VILLAGE WISE CROP PLANNING <ul><li>District and Taluka wise Agriculture Scientists are nominated for giving technical guidance directly to the farmers in crop sowing, package of practices, disease and pest management , balanced use of fertilizer use, efficient use of irrigation and with other latest technology available in agriculture. </li></ul>

NEW INTERVENTION- VILLAGE WISE CROP PLANNING BASED ON SOIL ANALYSIS <ul><li>The aim is that the farmers get better knowledge for crop production technique and diversification. </li></ul><ul><li>Strengthen crop diversification with law value added to high value added crops with the use of soil health card programme. </li></ul><ul><li>Farmers data bank would be created under this programme. </li></ul>
