  2. 2. WedgeGuard MO/DO Case Dr Graeme Milicich, BDS The WedgeGuard from Triodent is the latest addition to their acclaimed V3 system. It is designed to protect adjacent 1 teeth during cavity preparation. The metal protector is attached to a conventional Wave-Wedge which means it does not have to be discarded once the restoration phase of the treatment has been reached. Instead, the metal protector is simply removed from the Wave-Wedge, which is then used to adapt the Tab Matrix to the gingival floor of the cavity, without the additional expense of having to use a different wedge. Various research papers report that iatrogenic damage to adjacent teeth can be in excess of 90% irrespective of the use of magnification. A patient presented with primary cavities on both the mesial and distal of the second premolar. The adjacent teeth were unrestored so WedgeGuards were used to avoid the risk of any damage to those teeth. The security provided by the There was insufficient movement in the teeth to allow for the WedgeGuards allows for more rapid cavity preparation and placement of two WedgeGuards.
