Several celebrations include “old
fashioned” festivities for families such as face painting, watermelon seed contest,
potato sack races, and plenty of live music.
The Triangle area is well-known for great music and a wonderful summer
atmosphere.

Olde Fashioned Fourth of July Monday, July 4th in Downtown Apex 7:00 am – 2:00
pm –Downtown streets are closed. Event is 9:00 am — 1:00 pm. Games, inflatables,
bicycle parade (no fireworks).
BURLINGTON
Fireworks in City Park (on Sunday, July 3rd) Take a blanket or lawn chair and find a
spot on the famous hill at City Park and enjoy a spectacular fireworks display beginning
just after the sun goes down. Fireworks are displayed for Independence Day. *
Fireworks are subject to change according to weather.

CARRBORO
Carrboro Town Commons on Monday, July 4th beginning at 9:30 am! Parade from
Weaver Street Market to Town Hall with events at the Town Commons. The Kids Fun
Zone and Fun Zone Stage will be back with plenty of activities, games, great food and
live music.
CARY
Independence Eve Celebration Sunday, July 3 | Free, Cary Arts Center Pre-show
with Applause! Cary Youth Theatre | 6:30 p.m. Cary Town Band | 7:30 p.m. This year,
for the 29th Annual Patriotic Celebration, the Cary Town Band, Applause! Cary Youth
Theatre and other groups will be musically saluting the American flag, its history, and
the musical works it has inspired. Joined by the Concert Singers of Cary, the Town
Band features John Raymond Howell’s offering of “A Salute to the Flag”, plus marches,
songs, a salute to our military service personnel (past and present) and other works
recalling Old Glory.
Independence Day Olde Time Celebration

music combined with family-friendly activities in an atmosphere that is second to none
makes the July 4th Celebration at Booth Amphitheatre an event not to be missed! As
the last note fades, the celebration is capped off with a spectacular fireworks display.

pm! Fireworks begin at 9:30 pm. Arrive early for the best seats. Watermelon Eating
Contest, hosted by DSI Comedy. Make sure to get there early at 7 pm to participate in
our watermelon eating contest. Winners will receive prizes! The DSI comedy teams
will be onsite with interactive improv!! Balloon Animals, Face Painting, Inflatables

Joel Lane Museum House “The Birthplace of Raleigh,” will sponsor its 25th annual
Independence Day Open House on Monday, July 4, 2016 from 11:00 am to 4 p.m.
Admission is free, and donations are requested. Colonel Lane was a founding father of
North Carolina’s capital city and an officer in the Wake County militia during the
American Revolutionary War.
