  6. 6. What is VoIP? Voice over Internet Protocol is a technique which is used in delivery of voice communication sessions over internet In VoIP calling, voice is first converted into digital signals or IP packets and then transferred over internet
  7. 7. Agenda Introduction to VoIP Network Parameters SIP Trunk Configuration SIP Extension Configuration Matrix Extended IP Phone Video Calling through VoIP
  8. 8. VoIP Module in ETERNITY NE To have the functionality of VoIP in ETERNITY NE, a VoIP module must be installed in it.
  9. 9. Network Connection Type Static DHCP PPPoE If your network uses Static IP address scheme, select STATIC in ETERNITY NE In Dynamic Host Configuration Protocol(DHCP), network assigns free available IP address to the system When your network uses PPPoE addressing scheme, PPPoE server will automatically assign IP network credentials
  10. 10. Network Parameters Select Preferred WAN type i.e. Ethernet or Wireless WAN 1 or 2 Select Network connection type i.e. Static, DHCP or PPPoE Basic Settings  Network Parameters Program IP details here for connection type: Static Define user name, Password & Service name for connection type PPPoE
  11. 11. Network Parameters Basic Settings  Network Parameters Define Access point, Dial – up number here Define User name & password for authentication (Optional)
  12. 12. Dynamic DNS
  13. 13. Dynamic DNS Dynamic DNS means to assign one Domain Name to such host whose IP address changed frequently For this setup DDNS client should be installed in client network who can give updates to globally accessible DDNS server about public IP details assigned to router at client site
  14. 14. Configuring Dynamic DNS Basic Settings  Network Parameters Program the Host Name provided by Dyndns.org here, if the DDNS option is enabled Program the ‘User-ID’ provided by Dyndns.org here, if the DDNS option is enabled Click here to update the IP address at particular instant
  15. 15. STUN Simple Traversal of UDP through NATs UDP (User Datagram Protocol) is a Network Protocol for Transmission of Data
  16. 16. STUN Router STUN Server STUN Client STUN Client requests STUN Server Server updates with IP address used by router and open port to client Client uses this information of IP address and free port from the server to ETERNITY NE
  17. 17. Configuring STUN Program this parameter if your ETERNITY is located behind a NAT Router Program the STUN Server Address & port here
  18. 18. DHCP Server The DHCP server manages a pool of IP addresses. Server assigns IP addresses and IP parameters to IP devices and computers to add to its own network. ETERNITY NE has in-built DHCP server for registering Matrix IP phones
  19. 19. Configuring DHCP Server Enable DHCP server from here Define the total number of hosts on the network (2-48) Program the DNS IP address here Define the starting IP address of DHCP pool Lease time after which IP address will be reassigned
  20. 20. ETERNITY NE as DHCP Server 192.168.2.50 192.168.2.51 192.168.2.52 192.168.2.54

  25. 25. Configuration: Peer-to-Peer Calling Basic Settings  SIP Trunks Keep SIP ID blank for Peer – to – Peer calling Enable SIP trunk from here Define trunk type Peer – To – Peer for P2P calling
  26. 26. This parameter has two options: Trunk and Station Configuration: Peer-to-Peer Calling
  27. 27. If you select Trunk, then it will follow the route incoming call as per the SIP trunk Configuration: Peer-to-Peer Calling
  28. 28. Peer-to-Peer Calling If you select Station, then it will follow the direct landing on specified extension Calling 205 201 205 207
  29. 29. Proxy Calling Making VoIP calls through proxy server is called proxy calling Proxy Server: abc.com Client 1 SIP ID 401 Client 2 SIP ID 402 Client 3 SIP ID 403 401 calling 402
  30. 30. Requirement for Proxy Calling Proxy server authenticates the clients for outgoing calls through it What is required for authentication? SIP ID Authentication ID Authentication Password Registrar Server Address Registrar Server port
  31. 31. Configuration: Proxy Calling Basic Settings  SIP Trunks Define trunk type as Proxy for Proxy Calling Enable SIP trunk from here Registrar Server Address of Proxy server & port number Program Authentication ID & password given by ITSP for Proxy calling
  32. 32. Configuration: Proxy Calling Enable outbound Proxy & Program Proxy address & port number. The outbound proxy is a normal SIP proxy. You configure your client, the phone or software, to use the proxy for all SIP sessions
