3. False. While some cars require premium gasoline for performance needs,
most will do just fine on regular unleaded. Check your owner’s manual to
see if your ride needs premium gas. Otherwise, our Clermont car
maintenance techs recommend that you save your money and fill up as
usual!
MYTH #1: PREMIUM GASOLINE IS BEST.
4. False. With the advent of synthetic oil, you can actually space out your oil
changes. Most cars with tanks full of synthetic oil can go between 5,000 –
10,000 miles without a chance. Check your owner’s manual and the type
of oil you use to see when you need to make your next car maintenance
appointment.
MYTH #2: YOU NEED AN OIL CHANGE
EVERY 3,000 MILES.
5. False. Some people think that you need to let your car “warm up” before
you hit the road, especially when it’s cold out. The truth is that your car will
actually warm up more efficiently if you drive it. You may want to refrain
from revving the engine or hard acceleration for a few minutes, but you
don’t need to kill time in the driveway before taking off.
MYTH #3: YOU NEED TO WARM UP YOUR
CAR BEFORE DRIVING.
6. False. Regular dish soap or detergent can strip or damage the paint on
your vehicle. Use soap formulated for your vehicle (our Clermont Toyota
parts techs can help you pick one) and be sure to follow up with a
protective coat of wax.
MYTH #4: ANY SOAP IS FINE WHEN IT
COMES TO WASHING YOUR CAR.
7. False… most of the time. If you get a nail in your tire, you may be able to
plug or patch the hole. However, it depends on the position of the nail, the
condition of your tire, and how severe the damage from the nail is. Our
Clermont car maintenance techs can assess the situation for you and
recommend a course of action, whether it be patching, plugging, or a new
tire altogether.
MYTH #5: IF YOU GET A NAIL IN YOUR
TIRE, YOU HAVE TO REPLACE THE TIRE.
