Subject: Letter of Recommendation for Paul Torreggiani
To whom it may concern,
Please accept this letter as my personal recommendation for Paul Torreggiani. I worked with Paul from 2010 to 2015.
During this time I was the HSSBC Provincial Cardiac Lead (2010-2013), and the Cardiac Services BC -Cardiac Contract and
Supply Manager (2013 to date). My role with both organizations involved managing the supplies required for cardiac
sciences, including leading competitive bid processes, contract management and managing the approval process to
introduce new technologies. As well I was the industry liaison responsible for representing the cardiac clinicians and
administration from 6 Health Authorities, in regards to product and vendor performance and contract deliverables.
During this time period, Paul was Medtronic’s Director Cardiac and Vascular Group (CVG) Western Canada. Medtronic
was the primary supplier of cardiac products to BC having successfully won 3 major contracts, valued over 120 million
dollars and the major supplier in other cardiac areas waiting to go to tender. Given Medtronic’s dominance in BC, Paul
and I developed a strong working relationship and worked closely to find opportunities that benefited both of our
organizations and ultimately the cardiac patients in BC, and we worked collaboratively to resolve numerous issues that
arose.
In my experience, the relationships between healthcare vendors and the supply chain can be difficult and one sided.
The fact Paul and I were able to work collaboratively and find resolutions that worked for all parties, speaks to his
strengths in leadership, communication, interpersonal skills, and strategic problem solving. His ability to listen and be
open to hear alternate points of view, and then take what he heard back to his organization and develop a creative,
balanced solution is unfortunately rare. I have worked with industry representatives for over 15 years and I cannot give
him enough praise for these qualities.
