The U.K. <ul><li>21% of the population over 5 years play an instrument </li></ul><ul><li>11.25m households own at least one musical instrument. </li></ul><ul><li>There are an estimated 18m (12+ years) lapsed players, 48% of whom would like to start playing again, 59% of whom were women . </li></ul><ul><li>Of those who have never played 34% (7m) said they would like to learn play a musical instrument. Over 70% of non-players indicated that they wished they had learnt to play an instrument. </li></ul><ul><li>Over 90% of respondents felt that playing a musical instrument was fun, relaxing and a good means of expression. </li></ul><ul><li>94% thought music helped develop a child’s creativity and 84% their overall intellectual development. </li></ul>
