Textual Analysis Part Two

 1. 1. Cover-Star – Christina Aguilera, this is also a well known, successful artist representing this edition of the rolling stones. I think that it portrays a sex appeal as she is wearing a skimpy sexy outfit. “The dirty girl fights back” is a heading to the left of Christina which backs up the fact that it’s a sex appeal picture, Furthermore, “Dirty” is a song from Christina Aguilera’s album ‘Stripped’ which also promotes Christina even more. She is wearing a sesy stylist sailor suit, which has been modernized to today’s society as it is showing a lot of flesh and cleavage which will attract many readers to this magazine.
Colour – The background is blue which with the cover-star’s outfit, associates with water sailors at sea, which is what Christina Aguilera is portraying. The mane of the cover star is in bold, yellow to stand out and is a contrast to the other colours on the cover.
Price/Date/Barcode – It is in a small print so the audience notices the images and text, wanting to read on before buying the magazine, before seeing the price. The date and price shows it is a weekly magazine.
Masthead – Red and black to show a fiesty bold image. ‘Rolling Stones’ stating the name of the magazine, however, the cover star is slightly covering it to show it is a well known magazine and that it is recognizable without showing the whole title so people will know what magazine this is as it’s so popular.
Header/rating stars – the header is along the top stating important information to the audience, making it stand out. There are a number of rated stars underneath story headings to show the ratings in which the producers and supporters of the magazine and the stories itself has given them, this will also attract the audience to read the stories to see why they are so good.
