TOM WATTERS
Tom is currently President of Summit Southern Cross Power Pty Ltd, a wholly owned
Sumitomo Corporation Company which has investments in two power plants in Western
Australia. He is also CEO of Bluewaters Power and Chairman of the Board of NewGen
Kwinana Pty Ltd. He has been with Sumitomo for almost 8 years and was previously General
Manager of Summit Sunrise Energy Co. Ltd., a wholly owned Sumitomo Corporation Group
Company based in Thailand and established as a development and investment vehicle for
power generation projects in the Asian and Oceania Regions.
Educated at Napier University in Edinburgh, Scotland, and graduating in Electrical and
Electronic Engineering, he has over 45 years’ experience in the power sector. Tom has
directed and led teams on the closure of several greenfield and M&A investments in emerging
Asian countries including Thailand, Indonesia, Malaysia, India and in Australia. He has
worked and lived in Bangladesh, Bermuda, Hong Kong, Indonesia, India, Jordan, Malawi,
Malaysia, Nigeria, Pakistan, Switzerland, Thailand, United Kingdom and now Australia.
Previous employers have included South of Scotland Electricity Board, ESCOM Malawi,
Motor Columbus Consulting Engineers, Kennedy and Donkin Consulting Engineers,
PowerGen International and China Light and Power International.
