and menu.
Former Senator and Businesswoman, Thandi Maziya is the brains behind the autlet, which creates a
different enviranment for the people of Ezulwini ald the entire nation, especially traditianal dishes.
Maziya said the idea was ts accommodate any kind of a customer. She pointed out that main menLrs
at the restaurant would be the traditional dishes, which wotrld be blended with western ones to
come up with unique cuisines.
She was speaking during the official opening of the place on Wednesday evening. The event was also
attended by Minister of Tourism and Environmental Affairs Macford Sibandze, who was with his
wife Sindi and friends.
The director added that she saught services of experienced peaple to set up the restaurant, which
was temporarilly closed for renovatisn.
*I
believe one always needs to find the right people when
venturing inta a business of this nature. This is because the heart of such a business is good food
and quality service," she said-
Adding, she revealed that she had engaged consultants from South Africa, Anton Pienaar and finus
Pretorius, who are members of the $outh Afriean Chef Assoeiation, to set up the standards and
empower local staffwith skills required in the industry.
*We
pride ourselves in good food, quality
service as well as healthy meals given that we always provide them fresh," she said.
Traditional dishes served at the restaurant include maize meal bread, free range chicken, sweet
potatoes, among other dishes. The former senator mentioned that they would soon be introducing
goat meat, Emasi and other traditianal dishes, which she hoped visitars would enjoy.
"The place is big enough to cater for about 2oo people at a time. I{e are confident that we can cater
far any number since we have ample space, which makes it easy to add nrtmbers if need be," she
. said.
Meanwhile, Minister Sibandze said asthe tourism ministry, they 'vere happier when such
businesses were set up because it entails more competition, which wauld bring about quality service
to tourists. "I just want ta say that this is a gain to the tourism industry because when visitors come,
they shall be able to try something differer,*," he said.
Sibandze added that what was exciting about Waodlands was the creativity and innovation shown
when setting up the pJace. "The traditional dishes will be well received by tourists, because they
' always want to try something new,'he said" '+
