  9. 9. HR Summit 2013 The Indus Entrepreneurs (TiE) TiE is recognized as a global organization fostering entrepreneurship through mentoring, networking and education. The purpose of TiE is to encourage and nurture the next generation of entrepreneurs and add to the virtuous cycle of wealth creation spurring development and economic growth of the world. Founded in 1992 in Silicon Valley by a group of successful entrepreneurs, corporate executives and senior professionals with roots in Indus region, TiE is a unique platform which brings all the stake holders – Entrepreneurs, Academia, Angel Investors, Venture Capitalists, Banks, Incubators and corporates together and makes them accessible to entrepreneurs. There are currently over 13,000 members including over 2,500 charter members in 60 chapters across 17 countries. In the last 12 years, it has continuously taken the lead and hopes to build on its strength to create an increasingly positive ecosystem for the entrepreneurs and investors. It attracts CEO’s, Industry Professionals, Venture Capitalists, Angel investors, Policy makers, Academia, students from across the world. In addition to providing in – depth, up-to-date content, TiEcon serves as a powerful networking forum. TiE Institute Mini MBA for entrepreneurs! TiE Institute was started in 2011 and has been considerable traction and engagement with the TiE Community. The endeavour of TiE Institute sessions is to cover tangible, specific subjects of daily interests to entrepreneurs, something they cannot obtain elsewhere and provide detailed information and practical tips from practitioners. Each session is conducted by a panel of experienced VCs, entrepreneurs, angel investors and domain experts. Retail Walkthrough Started with a vision of providing practical knowledge to entrepreneurs, we take members to shop floor, offices/warehouses of experts and learn from their experiences. India Internet Day Launched in 2012, iDay is poised to be one of India’s most exciting gatherings of the internet community. It’s a platform for global internet players to come together and create present value, while defining future opportunities. TiE International Business Plan Competition (TIBPC) TiE’s International Business Plan Competition is 2 track now. It provides Graduate-level University students and their teams a chance to compete in World’s largest and most successful Business Plan Competition at Rice University in Houston, Texas. The program has been expanded in 2013 to give nonstudent teams a chance to compete for cash prizes and the opportunity to present in front of a panel of experienced investors. Eligible chapters, Asia Region: Dubai, Hong Kong, India (Bhubaneswar, Coimbatore, Delhi, Hyderabad, Kerala, Kolkata, Mumbai, Nagpur, Pune, Rajasthan, UP), Pakistan (Islamabad) Chapters produce • A Minimum of 1 team for the Rice Track • 1-3 teams for the Investor Track Winning teams from each participating chapter compete at a Regional Final in front of the Investor Panel and Rice Judging Panel. Regional Finals in Delhi, February 7-8, 2014.

HR Summit 2013 Power to Empower TiE Delhi-NCR partnered with National Skills Development Corporation (NSDC), Ennovent and the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) launched Power to Empower, India’s first skills enterprise plan competition. It aims to identify the most innovative for-profit enterprises contributing to widespread skills development in India. After two intensive rounds of mentoring and screening, the best skills development solutions are selected with the support of sector experts. Winners are selected in 5 regions across India (East, West, North, South and Central) with one overall winner. Winners are given the opportunity to showcase their solutions to impact investors and experts in order to spur the growth of their enterprises over the long-term. Runway to Success Runway to Success is a TV series by Lufthansa, TiE Delhi-NCR and ET NOW, The reality show that recognized SMEs with the most powerful business case. Spread over 11 episodes in which a shortlist of 27 entrepreneurs competes for a Grand Prize that empowers them to take off – quite literally – on the ‘Runway to Success.’ On air, the first 9 episodes of Runway to Success showcases the untold mantras of industry icons who charters a new flight path to success. In each episode, 3 entrepreneurs make their best business pitch to the icon, amongst which is picked a winner with the help of ourbusiness experts. Each episodic winner wins a Business Class Ticket to Europe and a TiE mentorship. The 9 episodic winners compete in the Semi-finals for a spot among the top 3 who battles it out in the Grand Finale and win: • A Lufthansa Business Class ticket to Europe • A sponsorship to an entrepreneurial programme at Cambridge • A TiE mentorship • A 3-month open office mentorship from Canaan Partners Smash Up! Smash Up! It’s India’s premier start-up conference – a giant mash up of creative energy, product showcase, networking opportunities and insightful agenda which covers start-up issues. TiE Young Entrepreneurs (TYE) A global program for school students, classes 9-12. Through this program, TiE fosters entrepreneurship among the youth at an early age. The program consists of 2 months of class room sessions (Sunday, 1/2 day) on Entrepreneurship and various aspects of setting up and running a successful business venture. The classes are conducted by professionals & successful Entrepreneurs, followed by students brainstorming a business idea & preparing a business plan for a Business Plan Competition. Each team is assigned a mentor who is a CEO/ Senior Professional from the Industry. The Chapter level business plan competition is followed by a global competition. TiE Helpline This is a platform that answers the queries and needs of our members. We invite a number and variety of Experts at our office on 3rd Wednesday of every month and the members can personally and on a one to one basis get their questions answered. Expertise covered in last six months are Legal, Finance, HR, Marketing and Branding, B-plan and Social Media Marketing.
  12. 12. HR Summit 2013 My time with TiE ‘My Time with TiE’ is an initiative that helps TiE members connect with the TiE Delhi-NCR team. TiE office welcomes the members on 1st Monday of every month to share their expectations & business requirements, give us ideas, suggestions and valuable feedback. Member Mixer Plus Taking ahead our initiative Member Mixer, we have launched a new initiative Member Mixer Plus. It’s is an opportunity for members to meet the co-members and let themselves be known to them. It is focused on finding what members are looking for and find it within the group just as they help others find what they are looking for. It’s a 2-round event where in 1st round members talk about what they do and what they are looking for whereas in the 2nd round they talk about how they can contribute to the other members requests/needs. “TiE Connect” Program Using its networks of connections in major emerging countries, the TiE Country Connect program introduces members to development in these countries. Mentoring Sessions & Clinics Mentoring is a key value proposition of TiE and Delhi chapter provides mentoring on an on-going basis, throughout the year, with mentors from India as well as the international community. Over 1000 members have benefitted from mentoring programs. Entrepreneurship Nurturing Program The Entrepreneurship Nurturing Program helps member to make better – informed decisions, to help scale their business, provides networking opportunities across the global community. Seminars/Workshops Half/Full Day programmes conducted by industry experts covering various issues of the entrepreneurial community. Company Showcase and Deal Flow Meetings (DFMs) Through these sessions, TiE facilitates value added interactions between entrepreneurs & VCs.   17. 17. HR Summit 2013 Aditya Sharma Director Lok Capital Aditya is currently a Director with Lok Capital, where he looks at healthcare and the portfolio. Prior to Lok Capital, he worked with Everstone Capital Advisors. His focus areas were consumer centric businesses, which primarily included retail, fashion, F&B and healthcare. He was a part of the operations team that managed portfolio and worked with the transaction team to drive investment in the above sectors. He has also worked with the Knowledge Office (strategy cell) of the Future Group prior to working with Everstone Capital advisors. He is a B. Com from St. Xavier’s College, Kolkata and an MBA from Lancaster University. Amol Arora Managing Director Shemrock & Shemford Group of Schools As the MD of SHEMROCK Pre-schools & SHEMFORD Group of Schools, Amol has led the group successfully to become one of India’s leading chain of preschools and schools with 160 branches. Realizing the astute entrepreneur-educationist in Mr Arora, the DPS Society partnered with him to set up the Delhi Public School Pinjore, which is today one of the country’s leading boarding schools. Anuradha Das Mathur Founder & Director 9.9 Mediaworx Anuradha Das Mathur is a Founder and Director of 9.9 Media (Nine Dot Nine Media) - one of India’s fastest growing niche media companies that offers high-quality, timely knowledge and insights to targeted consumers, business and professional communities through magazines, websites, events, and peer groups. Over the past 5.5 years, she has launched new businesses, turned-around older ones, and focused on either doing different things – or doing things differently; a characteristic that is now identified with her Company. Ashish transitioned from his role as Sr. Managing Director, ChrysCapital; a private equity firm that he co-founded in 1999 and founded Central Square to pursue his goal of creating social impact via philanthropic investments in the K-12 education space. Ashish is also a founding member of Ashoka University, India’s first Liberal Arts University in collaboration with University of Pennsylvania. He serves on the board of several non-profits including Teach for India, Centre for Civil Society, Jannagraha and Give Life. He is also a member of the HBS India Advisory Board. Prior to her shift into adult learning and development, she was a management consultant for the Boston Consulting Group and a mechanical engineer for PTC. Bimal Rath Founder & Managing Director Think Talent Services Bimal is the founder and Managing Director of Think Talent Services, a boutique firm specialising in leadership development and change management. With over 23 years of experience, his latest corporate position was as HR Director for Nokia, supporting the massive growth for the company over the last few years. He has previously held senior positions in Eicher, British Telecom and Tata Sons, and has an outstanding track record as a HR professional. HR Summit 2013 Deep Kalra Founder & Group CEO MakeMyTrip.com Having steered the MakeMyTrip business as Founder & CEO since its inception in 2000, Deep took on the role of Chairman & Group CEO in August 2013, to focus on Strategy, M&A and international businesses. Deep has served on the TiE (The Indus Entrepreneurs) Delhi Board since 2007 and took over as the President in January 2013. He served on the NASSCOM Executive Council from 2010-2013. Deep is also an active Angel Investor in the Internet space. Ernst & Young has recognized him as Entrepreneur of the Year - Business Transformation (2011). Deep has been recognized as the Best Travel Entrepreneur of 2012 by TTG Asia at the TTG Travel Awards. IAMAI named him ‘Internet Man of the Year’ (2010). Prior to his entrepreneurial venture with MakeMyTrip, Deep has had corporate stints with GE Capital, AMF Bowling Inc. and ABN AMRO Bank. Gita Dang Founder Director Talent Advisory Services Gita Dang is the Founder Director of Talent Advisory services. Gita has successfully placed senior executives in the C-suite for a wide range of companies, including, Omidyar Network, Acumen Fund, Fidelity Information, Schneider Electric, IVCA, Charities Aid Foundation, British Telecom, Goldman Sachs, Bennett Coleman, Cisco, Dell, EDS, Vodafone, McAfee, Autodesk, Lenovo, ADP, Moser Baer, NASSCOM, Symphony and Sequoia. In the course of her search work, she also consulted with these organizations on topics related to talent planning and on-boarding. Ms. Dang was a Senior Client Partner for more than ten years with the global search firm Korn/Ferry International, where she was Regional Leader for India and focused much of her work in the Technology space. Prior to Korn/Ferry, Mrs. Dang worked as an Investment Banker with HSBC and with ANZ Grindlays. He has been involved in various corporate strategy, business creation, diversification and performance enhancement assignments across sectors for Indian as well as International clients. He has also been instrumental in developing India entry strategies for many leading international companies and has also assisted them in finding suitable partners in India for companies like Giorgio Armani, GANT, Tommy Hilfiger, Mothercare, Esprit, Marks and Spencer and Escada, to name a few. Harminder has been a guest faculty at IIT (Delhi), IIM (Bangalore, Ahmadabad and Lucknow), ISB (Hyderabad), MDI (Gurgaon) and NIFT (National Institute of Fashion Technology). Harpreet Grover Co-Founder & CEO CoCubes.com Harpreet envisions building a framework to help students connect all the dots to build a successful career. He believes that the assessment tools are rejection filters and the future belongs to ‘continuous evaluation’ leading to a selection filter. He has previously worked with Inductis, a data analytics firm, advising Fortune 500 clients in the financial services domain by using data analytics. Harpreet graduated from IIT Bombay with a dual degree. Beyond work he is a published photographer, poet and an amateur mountaineer.
  23. 23. HR Summit 2013 Hitesh Oberoi MD & CEO Naukri.com Hitesh Oberoi, an Indian national, is Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of naukri.com. Mr.Oberoi obtained a Bachelor of Technology degree in Computer Science from the Indian Institute of Technology, Delhi in 1994 and MBA from IIM Bangalore in 1996. At IIM he featured in the Director’s Merit List. Mr.Oberoi has set up sales and marketing operations and has been instrumental in launching new products and services at Naukri.com. He has also helped set up the Jeevansathi.com, 99acres.com and Shiksha.com & other new businesses. Prior to joining Naukri, Mr.Oberoi was the Regional Planning and Distribution Manager (North India) for the Ice Cream Division of Hindustan Lever Limited, the Indian arm of Unilever Plc, where he worked for almost four years. Hitesh, along with his partner Sanjeev Bikhchandani, won the “Ernst and Young – Entrepreneur of the Year” award in 2008 for Business Transformation. Joy Nandi Managing Partner Blue Canopy Consultants Joy Nandi is currently the Managing Partner of a boutique consulting firm, blue Canopy, which offers human capital advisory, executive search, talent mapping and leadership assessment services. Apart from advising corporate clients, and leading executive search assignments, he also works with VC/PE funds for conducting human capital due-diligence exercises and selection and assessment of entrepreneur-in-residence (EIRs) and management teams for portfolio companies. Mr. Nandi was erstwhile a Partner with Korn/Ferry International, a global talent advisory and executive search firm, where he led the Firm’s technology and professional services practices, and the Information Officers Center of Excellence (CoE) for the firm in India.
