  3. 3. Issues and Challenges on Supply Chain Risk (Mr Andes Lam) This session will give an overview of various risks that will interrupt the operations of supply chain such as financial, political, reputation, criminal risk. Besides, the speaker will share with you the trends and issues related to the overall risk management of the supply chain integrity as well as general approach adopted by different organizations. This is a good starting to highlight how serious the problems every organization is facing. You will start thinking about how your organization might strike the right balance between supply chain risk exposures and risk management investments to create greater resiliency that can give your organization a global competitive advantage. Supply Chain Security (Mr Paul Houston) This session is designed to highlight the security issues in the supply chain as well as how it can be economically controlled. Organizations are moving to a leaner supply chain via the outsourcing of logistics and utilizing the likes of ‘Just in Time’ logistics, ‘Merge in Transit’ etc. However this situation reduces control of goods in the supply chain and therefore increases the risk and security. In addition, the threat of terrorism has resulted in a deluge of regulations such as C-TPAT, ISPS etc, which require companies to change the way they manage their products and interact with customs. Therefore, the speaker will discuss the operational, physical, and technological solutions applicable in the area of facilities, transportation, operations, information flow and contract establishment. Supply Chain Quality Management and Product Recalls (Professor Xiande Zhao) In this talk, the speaker will describe and analyze the recent product quality problems and consequent recall actions based on the analysis of recent reports and field visits. These problems will be analyzed using supply chain and quality management principles. A supply chain quality management system comprises supplier management principles and practices, and product recall system and procedures, will be proposed to reduce quality related risks in the supply chains. The speaker will share with you some of the current policies and procedures related to quality and product recalls by the Chinese Government. He will also discuss how companies can turn the challenges into opportunities in the current turbulent competitive environment. Profile of Speakers 3
