  2. 2. Avatar Image source: Fox. Fox’s first Avatar movie released in 2009 and went on to gross nearly $2.8 billion in ticket sales – the highest unadjusted gross of any movie ever. The company is developing four sequels to the film, with the first one set to debut in 2020.
