McMahon, Judge of the Santa BarbaraSuperior Court, this scholarship was established by a private benefactor. Students whoare sworn peace officers or work in fields related to law enforcement may apply.Legal Community ScholarshipsScholarships are offered to law students by local legal organizations, including theVentura County Mexican American Bar Association, Ventura County Asian AmericanBar Association, Santa Barbara Women Lawyers, and Delta Theta Phi law fraternity.Each year the Foundation of the State Bar of California offers scholarships to lawstudents, in amounts up to $7,500. Preference is given to those who have completed thefirst year with at least a 2.5 GPA and have demonstrated a commitment to public service.
  2. 2. Local Community ScholarshipsThe Ventura Center for Dispute Settlement awards two scholarships to its annual four-day negotiation and dispute resolution seminar to students of the Colleges. Othercommunity organizations also provide scholarships for which the Colleges students maybe eligible, including the Santa Barbara Foundation, Santa Barbara ScholarshipFoundation, Ventura CPA/Law Society, and Ventura County Community Foundation,which administers the Sara Moody Scholarship Fund and Roy A. Gustafson MemorialScholarship Fund.Legal Publishers AwardsThe Witkin Institute presents certificates to the top-ranked student in qualifying coursesin recognition of Californias preeminent legal scholar, Bernard E.
