Ride logistics Explained

  1. 1. Ride Logistics The New New Thing
  2. 2. Most cars are used only 1 hour per day And carry only 1 person for 90% of the trips they do undertake
  3. 3. Traffic congestion shows this to be both inefficient and unnecessary
  4. 4. A more sensible use of such resources would be to allow people to make use of vehicles
  5. 5. on a demand responsive basis meaning when *you* want
  6. 6. and to rationalise this demand via the construct of a futures exchange
  7. 7. Imagine if you could make use of the "river of empty seats" available each day in the transport fleet of every city?
  8. 8. And you could do it safely and conveniently
  9. 9. That you could buy a subscription per month for a certain value
  10. 10. and use that value to buy a seat-trip in taxis
  11. 11. private cars (where the drivers have the appropriate licences)
  12. 12. buses and even light transit systems
  13. 13. That the most important aspect of the system is that you could buy hundreds of seat-trips ahead of time
  14. 14. thus allowing the "transport system" to automatically adapt to intentions of the populace
  15. 15. reacting in real-time to the real transport needs of the citizenry
  16. 16. thus permitting vehicles to be placed where they are needed before they are needed
  17. 17. and eliminating the need for buses to drive around empty
  18. 18. or for taxi drivers to ply for trade
  19. 19. using the spare capacity in cars, vans, taxis and buses to facilitate deliveries in quieter periods
  20. 20. With such a system it would then be possible to
  21. 21. reduce or eliminate traffic congestion
  22. 22. reduce overall fuel use
  23. 23. integrate all our land, air and sea based-transport systems
  24. 24. offer to anyone the same choices of travel as a car owner
  25. 25. without reducing anyone's freedom
  26. 26. Hence Texxi
  27. 27. The Transit Exchange for the XXI Century
  28. 28. MOBILE DEVICE + FUTURES EXCHANGE + GENETIC ALGORITHMS + SOCIAL NETWORK (INTENTION CONTAGION MASK) + AUTOMATIC DEPENDENT SURVEILLANCE (ADS-B) FOR GROUND TRANSPORTATION
  29. 29. It does a hell of a lot more than just getting you a cab home from the nightclub by SMS
  30. 30. although that was the first application demonstrated
  31. 31. It is designed to allow for the allocation, market pricing and realtime trading of roadspacetime
  32. 32. on a per-seat basis
  33. 33. thus removing impediments to mobility for all segments of the population
  34. 34. the means to summon a ride in a vehicle is one detail in a complex system
  35. 35. the magic comes in the dynamic optimisation and the trading of seat trips
