I’m still not 100% sure how this is going to work…but I’m spending the weekend giving it a shot.
The old office- part 1 Shown here cleaned out for closing.
The old office- part 2 The “library/office” space- 10 foot high storage and bookcases. This pic is kind of an optimistic fib- this is what it looked like after staging and sadly not what it EVER looked like on a daily basis.
Somehow I had to fit all 750sq ft of that into this 12x12 space:
Then started culling. Lots of culling. This is 1/3 the books that went… ultimately there were 2 carloads. And all of this was in the drawers and cabinets
Ultimately, I determined there were three things crucial to success. #1- Ikea. We don’t have one in New Orleans, but we have a service that picks orders at the Houston store and delivers them for a fee. I didn’t think to get pictures of the stacks of boxes but love the warning: best assembled in the buff with a buddy?
#2. I resisted this for years, but thetime has come.I’m usually the techie inthe house, but myhusband’s had one ofthese since the firstgeneration. I’ve beenthe holdout, but in thename of being able to fitin my office, I’m goingto have to convert. On the other hand, Ican see it beingaddicting to get the Sigh.book you want thatsecond…
#3- There’s no substitute for elbow greaseI’m exhausted at the end of the weekend, but seem tohave what appears to be a functional space.
Now I don’t have any excuse! Back to work tomorrow. Ah well.
