SCOLA explained

  1. 1. SCOLA EXPLAINED
  2. 2. Generation Z are “tech-savvy” so life is filled by mobile gadgets that access the world. Via Facebook, Twitter etc they are in constant contact with people 24/7. They aren’t turned on by technology, it’s a tool. They are kids with brains rewired by the internet – answers to questions come from Google and YouTube, but they lack the critical-thinking skills to evaluate sources From <http://www.sec-ed.co.uk/blog/how- generation-z-is-different>
  3. 3. Students learning outside of the classroom using online interactive methods.
  4. 4. What could it look like?
  5. 5. You only have to start with the basics Find/make a video of a practical or a topic Upload to Moodle & get learners to watch it outside the classroom & make notes of questions/comments etc. Next lesson discuss the video and get the learners to use what they have learnt to create something or do the practical themselves
  6. 6. I could have flipped this session. Filmed/screen- recorded this presentation with voiceover and added films, further reading etc. Upload to Moodle & got you to watch it before the session & you could have made notes of questions/comments etc. In this session we could have discussed what you had seen, read etc and then discussed as a group how this effects SC & then individually thought about your sessions.
