It isperformed for various reasons including strengthening muscles andthe cardiovascular system, honing athletic skills, weight loss ormaintenance, as well as for the purpose of enjoyment. Frequent andregular physical exercise boosts the immune system, and helps preventthe "diseases of affluence" such as heart disease, cardiovasculardisease, Type 2 diabetes and obesity.
