  5. 5. © 2017 Global mobile Suppliers Association 3300 MHZ TO 4800 MHZ BANDS FOR PRIVATE 5G NETWORKS • Development of 5G for 3300-3400 and 4800-5000 MHz band • 3GPP is working on specifications of Rel.15 5G NR, which support the 3300-3800 and 4400-5000 MHz bands • In China the 4800-5000 MHz band, and in Japan the 4400-4900 MHz band, are parts of the frequency bands for 5G trials. • China MIIT’s decision on using 3300-3600 and 4800-5000 MHz bands for 5G (Nov.15th 2017) • The 3300-3600 and 4800-5000 MHz frequency bands will be used for 5G • The 3300-3400 MHz should be used indoor, in principle • Japan MIC is studying for spectrum to be used for 5G • The 3600-4200 and 4400-4900 MHz frequency bands are being studied in addition to other frequency bands. • Objective to release maximum 500 MHz bandwidth from 3600-4200 and 4400-4900 MHz by around March 2019. • CBRS in US • Shared spectrum proposals could unleash a 4G rush to deploy private LTE networks creating competition to established players Consideration of spectrum initiatives in other regions
  6. 6. © 2017 Global mobile Suppliers Association GATING FACTORS FOR 4G AND 5G PRIVATE NETWORKS Ecosystem Spectrum Spectrum Sharing Mobile Operators will probably need to be engaged to ensure the Ecosystem for private 5G develops For the Private Network industry to prosper access to Spectrum will be paramount New Spectrum will become available: balance access between MNO and Enterprise Continuity of Service will be at the heart of any new enterprise initiatives
