  3. 3. Rule No : 3Study, study, then cram :The more you learn about your callbackcompany, the better youre going to feel Congrats U Gotwalking in that door. Knowledge is power. The JobKnowledge will make you more confident inyour attitude and your answers. You knowthis stuff. Youve studied it! Knowledge ofcompany products, services, protocols andprocedures shows the interviewer that youreproactive, with an eye for detail and anappreciation for the power of preparation. Inother words, youll make a positiveimpression.
  4. 4. Rule No : 4Rehearse your interview :How can you rehearse for something thatdoesnt have a script? Write one. You knowthe typical questions youll be asked so writedown some of your most insightful, wittythoughts regarding the state of yourindustry and profession. Be prepared todescribe past positions, responsibilities andaccomplishments. This is not a time for falsemodesty, so dont be afraid to highlight yourprofessional strengths and play down yourterrible typing skills. Remember: its no bragif its the truth. Ask your spouse, your childor a friend to play the role of interviewer soyou become more comfortable speakingabout yourself in front of others. Again, thisis a confidence builder. The more youpractice, the more confident youll be.
  5. 5. Rule No : 5 What is theDevelop your list of questions: favorite color of the CEOYour interview shouldnt be seen as some ????type of interrogation. Its a "getting to knowyou" meeting, so feel free to ask questions. However, your first question shouldnt be"How much do I get paid?" or "Hows the401k plan, here?" Instead, ask questions thatshow you understand the job and thecompanys needs. Be quick to pick up on theinterviewers comments and ask relevantquestions.
  6. 6. Rule No : 6Dress for success. An interview is a performance withpeople playing different roles. Yourrole is successful job prospect. Playthe part. Whether youre female ormale, the conservative business suitis the recommended attire for anyinterview. If your business suit needsa pressing, send it to the drycleaners. If you dont own a suit(youd be surprised at the number ofus who dont) go out and get one. Itdoesnt have to be an $800 designersuit, but it should be conservativeblack, blue or gray.
  7. 7. Rule No : 7Get cut or coiffed :Youll have 15 minutes to make a goodimpression. Treat yourself to a visit to thelocal hair stylist. You bet looks matter.Theyll be plenty of time to show your talentonce you land the job. For now, look like asuccess, feel like a success – be a success.
  8. 8. Rule No :8Practice positive visualization :Professional athletes do it. So do actors, yogainstructors and new age thinkers who sleepunder makeshift pyramids to absorb thatmystical energy. Its called positivevisualization – and it works. It really does. Inthe days leading up to the interview, pictureyourself sitting opposite the head of HR.Picture yourself relaxed, comfortable, at thetop of your game. Play that clip over andover in your mind until it becomes sofamiliar, it actually becomes a part of yourself-image. It simply cant be stated too often– your confidence during an interviewshould be obvious and genuine.

Bring a calculator (you neverknow). Bring your address book and copies ofyour business card. If youve been asked to provideadditional information (school transcripts, e.g.)make sure youve got clean copies ready to handover.
