Islam –Shari’a Law, including Dhimmi
Dr. Robert Patton
Missionary to Suriname, South America
Basis of Dhimmi
 The individual is given 3 choices if they belonged
to certain religions
 Christianity
 Jewsh
 Zoroastrianism
 Here are the three choices:
 Convert to Islam
 Dhimmi status
 Death
Dhimmi status
 Started with a Jewish clan at Khaybar after
Muhammad had killed or chased away all the
Jews in Medina
 They argued that they were better farmers, and
would pay a portion of their crops for survival &
protection
Basic assumptions of Islam
 All persons are born Muslims; to become
a Muslim is to return to your original
created state
 Revisionist theory – Abraham, David, etc.
were Muslims
 Allah gave all the earth to Muslims and
wants all the earth controlled by Muslims
under Shari’a
Basic ideas re Islam
 Thus the task of all Muslims is to get the entire
earth back into Muslim hands, and to impose
Shari’a law on everyone
 Muslims are intrinsically superior to all other
groups, especially polytheists and Jews
 Muslim men are intrinsically superior to women
Basic ideas
 The world is divided into dar-al-Salam –
the world of peace under Muslim
control, and
 Dar-al-harb, the world of war, where all
Muslims are obliged to fight for Muslim
control
Basic ideas
 God gave Muhammad special rights to the spoil,
and all Muslims who follow him
 These rights include the rights to spoil, including
property, women and children of all non-Muslims
Basic ideas
 Non-Muslims are unlawfully occupying territory
which Allah wants under Muslim control.
 They are thus oppressing Muslims. This does
not require any specific action by the kafir
Basic ideas
 Allah has instituted jihad (Holy War) to obtain
what is rightfully Muslim.
 It is unthinkable that infidels should occupy
territory which was once Muslim.
 A mosque is a symbol that the territory really
belongs to Islam
Jihad
 Jihad includes occupying by force.
 Any males 12 or older who do not convert to
Islam are to be killed.
 The women may become concubines or slaves,
along with the children.
Jihad
 The property of Kafirs (unbelievers) belongs to
the Muslim umma, or community.
 All marriages are automatically eliminated by
the defeat or death of the husband.
jizya
 In certain circumstances, such as people of the
book, you may buy your right to live when defeated.
 You will then pay a jizya, or protection tax and live
as a second class citizen.
jizya
 This tax is usually about 3-4 times as high as
the usual tax for the Muslim.
 It is a compensation for keeping yourself alive,
along with your property.
 You are then a dhimmi
Dhimmi
 Dhimmi are protected people. They are pro-
tected from outside, but especially from inside.
 It is like the “protection racket” that some gangs
will use for businesses in their area.
 Dhimmi are not required to be in the army, and
cannot bear arms
Dhimmi rules
 No building of churches, convents, etc. nor
repair old ones
 Free lodging for any passing Muslim
 No hiding enemies of Muslims
 Dhimmi families are free to convert to Islam
if they wish
 Respect to Muslims. Rise from seat if they
wish to sit
Dhimmi
 Different clothing from Muslims. Sometimes it
must be distinctive; some must wear bells
around their necks, even when naked in baths
 No riding saddles or having swords or arms.
 No making alcohol
 Clipping the forelock of the head
 No crosses displayed, or Christian books on
market
Dhimmi
 No house higher than a Muslim
 No slaves who were allotted to Muslims
 Never strike a Muslim
 No testimony in court against a Muslim
 No criticism of Islam or Muhammad
Dhimmi
 Dhimmi is considered a group contract.
 If any single member breaks the contract, then the
entire community loses protection and may be killed,
women raped, property destroyed or seized, etc.
Dhimmi status
 Over years and centuries, dhimmi status can work
like that of the caste system in India,
 People may be convinced that they ARE inferior.
 Thus some oppressed actually defend Islam and their
status, and deny oppression (Stockholm syndrome)
Dhimmi status
 Also there is a great FEAR not only for the
individual, but that the individual may place an
entire community at risk.
What about US aid to Muslims?
 We can wonder if some Muslims look at the aid
packages from the US government as a sort of
jizya tax from the west.
Excellent resource
 Mark Dupre – The Third Choice
 This book goes into detail about dhimmi status
Shari’a
 Basis is on:
 Qur’an: 14%
 Sunna - perfect example of Muhammad - 86%
 Hadith – 6 are approved
 Sira
 60% has to do with unbelievers, and really is a
political system
Shari’a and women
 Women are weaker and unable to control
themselves.
 They must respect and obey their husbands
 They are intrinsically inferior to men
Shari’a and women
 Rebellious wives (may be in attitude only)
 admonish them,
 do not have sex with them,
 and finally – beat them, but do not break bones,
bruise or wound, or make blood flow
Shari’a and women
 Women cannot be judges
 Their testimony is ½ of a man; their inheritance
is ½ of a man
 In some ways equivalent to slaves and camels
 Women circumcision – not mandated in the
Qur’an, but often done – excision of clitoris
 Often damage done with problems of birth, and also
of urination
Shari’a and women
 Fornication – penalty death by stoning. If
pregnant, kill after the child is weaned
 No penalty exacted for you killing an adulterer
(but almost always a woman – a man may have
4 wives, and maybe he is having sex with a wife
you know nothing about
 Honor killings are not mandated but usually not
punished
Status of women
 In Qur’an – high status 6%, equal
23% low 71%
 In Hadith – high status 0.8%, equal
10%, low 89%
Man and wife relationship
 Women must have sex when he asks her if she
is at home, and she is physically able to do so
 Man may not have more than 4 wives
 Husband’s main interest in the wife is sex,
which he is to enjoy freely
Kafir
 More than just an unbeliever – a hateful word
 You can enslave, torture, mock or worse a kafir
 Kafir – anyone who does not believe that in
Muhammad & his Qur’an
Kafir
 60% of the Qur’an and 81% of the Sira talks
about Muhammed’s relationship with them
 32% of the hadiths are for kafirs
Kafir
 Allah hates Kafirs, so Muslims must do the same
 You can hate, terrorize, behead them; do not
befriend them – they are cursed, evil
Jihad
 War against kafirs to establish Sharia’s law
 Violence is sacred – peace only with submission
to Shari’a law
 Jihad is universal, eternal, and a COMMUNAL
obligation – all healthy men who have reached
puberty
Jihad
 If you kill or injure a Kafir, take whatever he has;
 Theft of a Kafir can be jihad (For example, the Barbary
Pirates)
 Muslim martyr – killed for Allah & Islam – guaranteed
heaven
Jihad effective in recruiting – see
results of Muhammad
 Preaching Islam alone – about 10 people per
year for 13 years
 Islam with Jihad – 10,000 people /year
Jihad effective in recruiting
 About 31% of trilogy is jihad
 Hadith – 21%
 Sira – 67%
 Medina Qur’an 24%
 Meccan Qur’an – 0%
Tears of Jihad – deaths caused by it
 Christians 60 million
 Hindus 80 million
 Buddhists 10 million
 Africans 120 million
 Total = 270 million
Submission
 No equality of Kafir and Muslim.
 Our institutions, schools, media must submit;
with resistance, use force
Dualism & submission
 Dualism – in many areas; they use the law of
abrogation.
 Both verses are true, but the latter is stronger.
 In practice, use the earlier Meccan verses when Islam
is weak; the stronger Medina verses when it is strong
Dualism
 Just as Muhammad behaved differently early as a
religious preacher and later as a political warrior, he
shows Islam how to behave in every phase
 Two sets of rules – for a Kafir or brother Muslim
Sacred lying
 An untruth is not always a lie; he can
use taqiyya, a sacred deception.
 “lies are sins except when told for the
welfare of a Muslim or saving him from
disaster”
Friends
 12 verses show no friendship with a Kafir
 You can enslave a Kafir, but not a Muslim. If a slave
converts, you can free him
 Allah hates all manifestations of Kafirs, including
their political systems, constitution, etc.
 Muslims hate what Allah hates.
Slavery
 Muhammad had slaves, had sex with slaves, gave
slaves away and received them, watched while others
beat slaves, used slaves for Jihad, had a child by a
slave, and disproved of a slave running away from his
master
 Islam has had and has slaves
Freedom of thought
 Impossible in Islam – submit to Shari’a law
 Death for apostates
 No musical instruments
 No pictures
 No opposition to Muhammad
Freedom of thought
 Impossible in Islam – submit to Shari’a law
 Death for apostates
 No musical instruments
 No pictures
 No opposition to Muhammad
Shari’a finance
 Zakat may be given to
 Poor needy Muslims; never to kafirs
 Those collecting the zakat
 New converts – make them stronger
 Ransom prisoners and slaves
 Jihad
 Travelers
Demands in other nations – here is
their methodology
 Method – on first arrival, announce that Islam
is a sister religion to Judaism & Christianity
 Have bridge-building sessions
Demands
 Then start demands – if they do not give in,
they are bigots, racists and Islamaphobes
 But remember – Allah hates Kafirs, their culture
and politics – so Muslims must too
Muhammed’s claim (Bukhari 1:7, 331
 Allah made me victorious by awe, frightening my
enemies for one month’s journey
 The earth has been made for me and my followers;
any of my followers can pray any place
 The spoils of war are lawful for me, but not anyone
before me
Muhammed’s claim (Bukhari 1:7, 331
 I have been given the right of intercession on
the Day of Resurrection
 Every Prophet used to be sent to his nation
only, but I have been sent to all mankind
Making it easy and necessity
 When circumstances are difficult and Sharia law is not
in force, the Muslim’s burden is lightened.
 If no halal food is available, they can eat regular food
 If they cannot pray at the regular time, they may pray
later
Ease and necessity
 While living among kafirs, a Muslim may do
business the kafir way – living in dar al harb
If we ban Shari’a law here
 We are restricting POLITICAL Islam, not
religious Islam

Islam s6 shari'a law and dhimmi

  • 1. Islam –Shari’a Law, including Dhimmi Dr. Robert Patton Missionary to Suriname, South America
  • 2. Basis of Dhimmi  The individual is given 3 choices if they belonged to certain religions  Christianity  Jewsh  Zoroastrianism  Here are the three choices:  Convert to Islam  Dhimmi status  Death
  • 3. Dhimmi status  Started with a Jewish clan at Khaybar after Muhammad had killed or chased away all the Jews in Medina  They argued that they were better farmers, and would pay a portion of their crops for survival & protection
  • 4. Basic assumptions of Islam  All persons are born Muslims; to become a Muslim is to return to your original created state  Revisionist theory – Abraham, David, etc. were Muslims  Allah gave all the earth to Muslims and wants all the earth controlled by Muslims under Shari’a
  • 5. Basic ideas re Islam  Thus the task of all Muslims is to get the entire earth back into Muslim hands, and to impose Shari’a law on everyone  Muslims are intrinsically superior to all other groups, especially polytheists and Jews  Muslim men are intrinsically superior to women
  • 6. Basic ideas  The world is divided into dar-al-Salam – the world of peace under Muslim control, and  Dar-al-harb, the world of war, where all Muslims are obliged to fight for Muslim control
  • 7. Basic ideas  God gave Muhammad special rights to the spoil, and all Muslims who follow him  These rights include the rights to spoil, including property, women and children of all non-Muslims
  • 8. Basic ideas  Non-Muslims are unlawfully occupying territory which Allah wants under Muslim control.  They are thus oppressing Muslims. This does not require any specific action by the kafir
  • 9. Basic ideas  Allah has instituted jihad (Holy War) to obtain what is rightfully Muslim.  It is unthinkable that infidels should occupy territory which was once Muslim.  A mosque is a symbol that the territory really belongs to Islam
  • 10. Jihad  Jihad includes occupying by force.  Any males 12 or older who do not convert to Islam are to be killed.  The women may become concubines or slaves, along with the children.
  • 11. Jihad  The property of Kafirs (unbelievers) belongs to the Muslim umma, or community.  All marriages are automatically eliminated by the defeat or death of the husband.
  • 12. jizya  In certain circumstances, such as people of the book, you may buy your right to live when defeated.  You will then pay a jizya, or protection tax and live as a second class citizen.
  • 13. jizya  This tax is usually about 3-4 times as high as the usual tax for the Muslim.  It is a compensation for keeping yourself alive, along with your property.  You are then a dhimmi
  • 14. Dhimmi  Dhimmi are protected people. They are pro- tected from outside, but especially from inside.  It is like the “protection racket” that some gangs will use for businesses in their area.  Dhimmi are not required to be in the army, and cannot bear arms
  • 15. Dhimmi rules  No building of churches, convents, etc. nor repair old ones  Free lodging for any passing Muslim  No hiding enemies of Muslims  Dhimmi families are free to convert to Islam if they wish  Respect to Muslims. Rise from seat if they wish to sit
  • 16. Dhimmi  Different clothing from Muslims. Sometimes it must be distinctive; some must wear bells around their necks, even when naked in baths  No riding saddles or having swords or arms.  No making alcohol  Clipping the forelock of the head  No crosses displayed, or Christian books on market
  • 17. Dhimmi  No house higher than a Muslim  No slaves who were allotted to Muslims  Never strike a Muslim  No testimony in court against a Muslim  No criticism of Islam or Muhammad
  • 18. Dhimmi  Dhimmi is considered a group contract.  If any single member breaks the contract, then the entire community loses protection and may be killed, women raped, property destroyed or seized, etc.
  • 19. Dhimmi status  Over years and centuries, dhimmi status can work like that of the caste system in India,  People may be convinced that they ARE inferior.  Thus some oppressed actually defend Islam and their status, and deny oppression (Stockholm syndrome)
  • 20. Dhimmi status  Also there is a great FEAR not only for the individual, but that the individual may place an entire community at risk.
  • 21. What about US aid to Muslims?  We can wonder if some Muslims look at the aid packages from the US government as a sort of jizya tax from the west.
  • 22. Excellent resource  Mark Dupre – The Third Choice  This book goes into detail about dhimmi status
  • 23. Shari’a  Basis is on:  Qur’an: 14%  Sunna - perfect example of Muhammad - 86%  Hadith – 6 are approved  Sira  60% has to do with unbelievers, and really is a political system
  • 24. Shari’a and women  Women are weaker and unable to control themselves.  They must respect and obey their husbands  They are intrinsically inferior to men
  • 25. Shari’a and women  Rebellious wives (may be in attitude only)  admonish them,  do not have sex with them,  and finally – beat them, but do not break bones, bruise or wound, or make blood flow
  • 26. Shari’a and women  Women cannot be judges  Their testimony is ½ of a man; their inheritance is ½ of a man  In some ways equivalent to slaves and camels  Women circumcision – not mandated in the Qur’an, but often done – excision of clitoris  Often damage done with problems of birth, and also of urination
  • 27. Shari’a and women  Fornication – penalty death by stoning. If pregnant, kill after the child is weaned  No penalty exacted for you killing an adulterer (but almost always a woman – a man may have 4 wives, and maybe he is having sex with a wife you know nothing about  Honor killings are not mandated but usually not punished
  • 28. Status of women  In Qur’an – high status 6%, equal 23% low 71%  In Hadith – high status 0.8%, equal 10%, low 89%
  • 29. Man and wife relationship  Women must have sex when he asks her if she is at home, and she is physically able to do so  Man may not have more than 4 wives  Husband’s main interest in the wife is sex, which he is to enjoy freely
  • 30. Kafir  More than just an unbeliever – a hateful word  You can enslave, torture, mock or worse a kafir  Kafir – anyone who does not believe that in Muhammad & his Qur’an
  • 31. Kafir  60% of the Qur’an and 81% of the Sira talks about Muhammed’s relationship with them  32% of the hadiths are for kafirs
  • 32. Kafir  Allah hates Kafirs, so Muslims must do the same  You can hate, terrorize, behead them; do not befriend them – they are cursed, evil
  • 33. Jihad  War against kafirs to establish Sharia’s law  Violence is sacred – peace only with submission to Shari’a law  Jihad is universal, eternal, and a COMMUNAL obligation – all healthy men who have reached puberty
  • 34. Jihad  If you kill or injure a Kafir, take whatever he has;  Theft of a Kafir can be jihad (For example, the Barbary Pirates)  Muslim martyr – killed for Allah & Islam – guaranteed heaven
  • 35. Jihad effective in recruiting – see results of Muhammad  Preaching Islam alone – about 10 people per year for 13 years  Islam with Jihad – 10,000 people /year
  • 36. Jihad effective in recruiting  About 31% of trilogy is jihad  Hadith – 21%  Sira – 67%  Medina Qur’an 24%  Meccan Qur’an – 0%
  • 37. Tears of Jihad – deaths caused by it  Christians 60 million  Hindus 80 million  Buddhists 10 million  Africans 120 million  Total = 270 million
  • 38. Submission  No equality of Kafir and Muslim.  Our institutions, schools, media must submit; with resistance, use force
  • 39. Dualism & submission  Dualism – in many areas; they use the law of abrogation.  Both verses are true, but the latter is stronger.  In practice, use the earlier Meccan verses when Islam is weak; the stronger Medina verses when it is strong
  • 40. Dualism  Just as Muhammad behaved differently early as a religious preacher and later as a political warrior, he shows Islam how to behave in every phase  Two sets of rules – for a Kafir or brother Muslim
  • 41. Sacred lying  An untruth is not always a lie; he can use taqiyya, a sacred deception.  “lies are sins except when told for the welfare of a Muslim or saving him from disaster”
  • 42. Friends  12 verses show no friendship with a Kafir  You can enslave a Kafir, but not a Muslim. If a slave converts, you can free him  Allah hates all manifestations of Kafirs, including their political systems, constitution, etc.  Muslims hate what Allah hates.
  • 43. Slavery  Muhammad had slaves, had sex with slaves, gave slaves away and received them, watched while others beat slaves, used slaves for Jihad, had a child by a slave, and disproved of a slave running away from his master  Islam has had and has slaves
  • 44. Freedom of thought  Impossible in Islam – submit to Shari’a law  Death for apostates  No musical instruments  No pictures  No opposition to Muhammad
  • 45. Freedom of thought  Impossible in Islam – submit to Shari’a law  Death for apostates  No musical instruments  No pictures  No opposition to Muhammad
  • 46. Shari’a finance  Zakat may be given to  Poor needy Muslims; never to kafirs  Those collecting the zakat  New converts – make them stronger  Ransom prisoners and slaves  Jihad  Travelers
  • 47. Demands in other nations – here is their methodology  Method – on first arrival, announce that Islam is a sister religion to Judaism & Christianity  Have bridge-building sessions
  • 48. Demands  Then start demands – if they do not give in, they are bigots, racists and Islamaphobes  But remember – Allah hates Kafirs, their culture and politics – so Muslims must too
  • 49. Muhammed’s claim (Bukhari 1:7, 331  Allah made me victorious by awe, frightening my enemies for one month’s journey  The earth has been made for me and my followers; any of my followers can pray any place  The spoils of war are lawful for me, but not anyone before me
  • 50. Muhammed’s claim (Bukhari 1:7, 331  I have been given the right of intercession on the Day of Resurrection  Every Prophet used to be sent to his nation only, but I have been sent to all mankind
  • 51. Making it easy and necessity  When circumstances are difficult and Sharia law is not in force, the Muslim’s burden is lightened.  If no halal food is available, they can eat regular food  If they cannot pray at the regular time, they may pray later
  • 52. Ease and necessity  While living among kafirs, a Muslim may do business the kafir way – living in dar al harb
  • 53. If we ban Shari’a law here  We are restricting POLITICAL Islam, not religious Islam
