These include policy developments, events and announcements from the European Institutions and European News from Europa Nostras member organisations. In this way, the Newletter strives to be a two way communication platform to keep heritage professionals abreast of European heritage news. Documents 2010: Europe’s living landscapes: Cultural heritage as a force for rural development A joint statement on the Common Agricultural Policy by Europae Archaeologiae Consilium, Europa Nostra, the European Association of Archaeologists, the European Council for the Village and Small Town, the European Federation of Farm and Village Tourism, the European Landowners’ Organisation, the International Association Rurality-Environment-Development (R.E.D.) and the Rural Investment Support for Europe (RISE) Foundation. New European forum for historic places of worship created In 2009, Europa Nostra and English Heritage agreed to a formal partnership with The Churches Conservation Trust to create a European network to work towards safeguarding historic places of worship across Europe. Europa Nostra adds its voice to the international protest against huge advertisements covering Venice Europa Nostra, the voice of cultural heritage in Europe, expresses its support to the Appeal launched by Venice in Peril Fund and signed by distinguished cultural figures such as Sir Norman Foster and directors of major European and world museums protesting against huge commercial advertisements which have been proliferating on the historic buildings of Venice. The Europa Nostra Annual Congress 2011 The Europa Nostra Annual Congress will take place next year on June 8-11 in the World Heritage City of Amsterdam, bringing together Europa Nostra members and representatives of the entire cultural heritage movement from all over Europe. Europe and Cultural Heritage: a Challenge. Towards a European Cultural Heritage Strategy The conference aims to enhance support amongst European institutions for the sustainable management and conservation of cultural heritage. It wants to prioritise these issues on the political agenda and is looking for long-term solutions. Europa Nostra is pleased to be associated with the preparation of the Conference and EN representatives will take an active part in the conference debates. Official visit of Europa Nostra President Plácido Domingo in Armenia Plácido Domingo was received by the Speaker of the National Assembly of the Republic of Armenia. Europa Nostra President urged the Armenian people to preserve their rich cultural heritage. This statement was made on the basis of the speaking notes which the secretariat prepared with the invaluable help of our Vice President Irina Subotic. They are a valuable tool for ensuring Europa Nostra’s presence and for conveying its concerns and activities throughout Europe. When joining a tour Members will not only experience the special features of these tours, but they will also support Europa Nostra financially. The latter has become a very welcome and increasingly important aspect of these tours.
