Socratic Seminar Guidelines <ul><li>Inner circle discusses courteously </li></ul><ul><li>Listen carefully </li></ul><ul><li>No hands necessary, let the discussion guide itself (use sensitivity to take turns and not interrupt others) </li></ul><ul><li>Relate your insights/opinions to the text </li></ul><ul><li>Be courageous in presenting your own thoughts and reasoning, but be flexible and willing to change your mind in the face of new and compelling evidence </li></ul>

Guidelines (continued) <ul><li>Ask each other to elaborate or clarify if necessary </li></ul><ul><li>Remain focused and on task </li></ul><ul><li>Address each other, not me </li></ul><ul><li>No side conversations </li></ul><ul><li>Outer circle participants can be drawn into the discussion by inner circle members for a single question or point.
