This presentation discusses the methods and modern techniques employed in the isolation of cellulose from lignocellulosic biomass which includes wheat straw, rice straw, sugarcane bagasse, corn hobs, bamboo, sorghum, etc.
Cellulose, thus isolated, could then be converted into value added products like cellulose nanofibrils, composite biopolymer, bioplastic, biofilm, hydrogel, biodegradable utensils and more. These products can then be further processed to obtain a commercial end product or the cellulose carbon backbone can be converted into a number of organic products including alcohols, phenols, hydrocarbons and sugars.
