  6. 6. SITE ANALYSIS SECTOR II A
  7. 7. THESIS PROPOSAL AS AN INTERIOR DESIGNING STUDENT OF INIFD, I HAVE TAKEN UP A RENOVATION PROJECT OF THE PLAYWAY ‘SANJIVNI’ LACATED IN SECTOR 11A, CHANDIGARH. IT IS A DOUBLE-STUREYED BUILDING- GROUND FLOOR IS THE PLAYWAY, FIRST FLOOR BEING BEING THE OWER’S RESIDECE. IT IS A BUILDING OF 500sq.ft. OUT OF WHICH, 60% IS THE COVERED AREA.
  8. 8. VALIDITY THE PLAYWAY ‘SANJIVNI’ IS LOCATED IN SECTOR 11 OF CHANDIGARH. IT COVERS AN AREA OF 500sq.ft. OUT OF THIS TOTAL AREA, 60% IS COVERED. OR 40% IS THE GREEN BELT. THE LOCATION IS VERY APT AS THIS SECTOR IS CONSIDERED AS ONE OF THE BEST FOR RESIDENTIAL PURPOSE. HENCE, IS ACCESSIBLE TO NO. OF FAMILIES.
  9. 9. HOW DID PLAYWAYS COME INTO EXISTENCE? (THE HISTORY) PLAY AS A WAY OF LIFE ! There are many ways of quibbling in a discussion of play as there are in a discussion of the New Deal. We soon come to a definition of terms in either type of discussion and the dictionary does not help very much. Each of us has a personal understanding of the meaning of terms and only reluctance are we willing to agree that there may be something to the other point of view. One popular conception of play is that it is frivolous, and if that is your notion you may find ample support in the dictionary. For instance, one definition reads: "to treat, practise, or deal with by way of amusement, sportive imitation, or representation, or without serious purpose; to trifle with; to pretend to engage in; to make believe." If you are convinced that play is engaged in without serious purpose then a play-way of life that might be characterized as drifting. Most good citizens believe that life is a serious proposition and certainly there is little to lead us to think that it is growing much easier for large proportions of population. Early in our history it was decreed that those who do not work cannot eat. And such a principle seems to have been reasonably adequate until recent times. But more of this later. The first argument against play in schools runs as follows: Since life is a serious proposition, we should proceed to make of school a serious proposition so that pupils may be prepared for tha hardships they are certain to encounter. If we are to prepare for serious living in a school that takes itself seriously, then surely there is little place for trifling play in its program.

  24. 24. RECEPTION THE SPACIOUS FOYER WITH A BRICK-TEXTURE COUNTER ON ONE SIDE, AND FEW SWINGS ON THE OTHER, IS PLEASING.
  25. 25. WAITINGCOMFORTABLE CUSHIONED CANECHAIRS ARE APPROPRIATELYPLACED IN THE WAITING.ALSO, THE BULLETIN BOARD IS AWAY OF KEEPING THE VISITORSUPDATED.
  26. 26. PRINCIPAL’S OFFICERIGHT NEXT TO THE RECEPTION AREA, IS THEPRINCIPAL’S ROOM WHICH IS VERY COMPACT.HENCE, IT IS TOTALLY ACCESSIBLE FOR THEPARENTS.
  27. 27. INTERIORSBRIGHT AND EYE-CATCHINGCOLOURS ARE MADE USE OF.THIS ENCOURAGES THETINY-TOTS TO COME BACKEVERYDAY.
  28. 28. CEILING P.O.P. DESIGN ON THE CEILINGS ADDS TO THE OVERALL DÉCOR OF VARIOUS AREAS.
  29. 29. CREATIVE - INFORMATIVETHESE INNOVATIVELY CREATEDPOSTERS, OTHER THAN BRIGHTENING UP THEROOM, ARE ALSO VERY KNOWLEDGEABLE.
  30. 30. FLOORINGTHE FLOWERY, CURVED AND GEOMETRIC MOSAICFLOOR PATTERNS ADD-UP TO THE AESTHETIC ELEMENT.ALSO THEY RETAIN THE INTEREST OF THE PERSON-WALKING-BY.
  31. 31. FURNITURE DESIGNED IN THE SHAPES OF FRUITS (PEAR, APPLE) AND OTHER GEOMETRICAL FIGURES, THIS WOODEN FURNITURE ACTS AS AN ALL TIME FASCINATION FOR THE KIDS.
  32. 32. LIGHTINGALL THE CLASSROOMS ARE PROPERLYLIT, MAINLY USING THE BASIC TUBE-LIGHTS.
  33. 33. NEATLY KEPT THE CLASSROOMS AERE QUITE WELL MAINTAINED. WHEN NOT IN USE, THE FURNITURE IS NEATLY PLACED ON THE SIDES, WHICH PROVIDES A BETTER AND AN EASIER WAY OF CLEANING AT THE SAME TIME.
  34. 34. STORAGESTORAGE, IN SUCH AREAS, IS A BIG NECESSITY INORDER TO KEEP THE TOYS AND VARIOUS OTHERTHINGS FOR THE KIDS. HERE, IT IS VERY EFFICIENTLYPROVIDED IN EACH ROOM, HENCE AVOIDING ANY KINDOF MESS.
  35. 35. VENTILATIONCONTINUOUS CROSSING BETWEEN THEINSIDE AND THE OUTSIDE AIR IS ANOTHERVERY IMPORTANT FEATURE, AND ITSHOULD NOT BE IGNORED AT ANY COST. ITIS WELL TAKEN CARE OF BY PROVIDINGVENTILATORS, WINDOWS AT DIFFERENTLEVELS.

  43. 43. CRITICAL ANALYSISPRINCIPAL’S ROOM- WHICH GIVES FIRSTIMPRESSION TO THE VISITORS- IS BADLY KEPT, ANDIS IN A MESSY CONDITION. IT PROBABLY NEEDS TOBE MORE SPACIOUS AND MORE STORAGE NEEDS TOBE PROVIDED.

IT LIES INA HIGHLY APPROACHABLE AREA OF THIS COMMERCIALSECTOR OF THE CITY. IT HAS BEEN SUCCESSFUL INBUILDING A STRONG REPUTATION OVER THE PAST SIXYEARS, AS THE FACLTY HERE INCULCATES IN THE CHILDRENTHE MOST SOUGHT AFTER MORAL VALUES.
