Frank Lopez Appointed to Serve as Member of Orange County Tourist Development Tax Application Review Committee.

The Tourist Development Tax Application Review Committee is authorized to consider applications for excess tourist development tax revenue funding and to provide written funding recommendations to the Tourist Development Council and the Board of County Commissioners based on applicable criteria established by ordinance.

Mr. Lopez was nominated to be appointed to this advisory role by Orange County District 4 Commissioner Maribel Gomes Cordero, who said, “Frank is a mature and thoughtful leader that seeks to bridge the gaps of need, understanding, and opportunity across the region. Frank has demonstrated a unique capacity for innovation and inclusion that highlight the positive contributions being made by all that call Central Florida their home.”

Page 1 of 2 PUBLIC SERVICE ANNOUNCEMENT Frank Lopez Appointed to Serve as Member of Orange County Tourist Development Tax Application Review Committee Orange County, Florida — April 23, 2019 — Today at the meeting of the Orange Board of County Commissioners (BCC) approved the appointment Francisco (Frank) Lopez to serve as a member of the Tourist Development Tax Application Review Committee with term expiring December 31, 2022. Frank Lopez currently serves as the Chief Executive Officer and Owner of the Taino Group, a Limited Liability Company (LLC) based in Orlando, Florida. The Tourist Development Tax Application Review Committee is authorized to consider applications for excess tourist development tax revenue funding and to provide written funding recommendations to the Tourist Development Council and the Board of County Commissioners based on applicable criteria established by ordinance. Mr. Lopez was nominated to be appointed to this advisory role by Orange County District 4 Commissioner Maribel Gomes Cordero, who said, “Frank is a mature and thoughtful leader that seeks to bridge the gaps of need, understanding and opportunity across the region. Frank has demonstrated a unique capacity for innovation and inclusion that highlight the positive contributions being made by all that call Central Florida their home.” A former President of the Hispanic Chamber of Commerce of Metro Orlando as well as having served as President and CEO of the Foundation of the United States Hispanic Chamber of Commerce in Washington DC earlier in his career, Lopez said, “I consider it an honor to serve on this distinguished and important advisory committee that works to advance Orange County as a national and worldwide mecca for tourism.” Mr. Lopez added, “I will seek to help this Advisory Committee demonstrate and reflect, throughout committee deliberations the cultural richness and wide range of tourism diversity that Orange County has to offer to the nation and to the world.” Other Related Orange Board of County Commissioners (BCC) Actions During Meeting of April 23, 2019: Approval to award Tourist Development Tax (TDT) grants, as described in the Application Review Committee (ARC) applications from ARC funding in TDT capital budgets for: - Up to $10 million for the Holocaust Memorial Resource and Education Center acquisition and capital construction of the Orlando Museum for Hope and Humanity Project; - Up to $5.75 million for the Orange County regional History Center museum capital construction; - Up to $10 million for the Orlando Philharmonic Plaza Live project acquisition and capital construction; - Up to $10 million for the Orlando Science Center museum capital construction; and, - Up to $6 million for the Winter Park Canopy project auditorium and meeting space acquisition and capital construction.
