CHALLENGES

TSE was approached by the Kalamazoo
Wings to oversee an interior renovation of
Wings Stadium in Kalamazoo, MI.
The
technology was antiquated and in poor
working condition. No significant upgrades
were made since the facility opened in 1974.
Along with the facility the Wing's needed an
overall franchise renovation. Since the time
they opened the facility, the stadium was
considered a "true hockey" facility rather
than an entertainment facility. The Wings
wanted to take the franchise to a brand new
direction while revitalizing it in the
community. TSE was brought in to oversee
the physical plan changes while breathing
fresh new life into the organization.

Show Preparation and Evaluation

Ticket Training and Sales Consultation

Individual challenges were met throughout the scope of each part of the
renovation. When it came to the facility, the goal was to incorporate a new video
board while totally revamping the concourse and concessions. Both the concourse
and concessions were old, dark and cramped. The concessions were selling close
to the same items at each location.
The video board faced unique limitations due to the existing roof structure, which
is very low. In the past, the previous score board would be lowered and carted
out of the facility when non-hockey events were being held. The new board
would also be hidden from view when needed while being much larger in size.
There was also the challenge of no location allowed for a ribbon board.
When it came to the Wings franchise, over their 30+ years of existence, they did
things consistent but in the old fashion way. They had novel approaches but
needed an overhaul of operations to support the facility and to better sell tickets
and sponsorship sales. There was also a need for new internal techniques on how
to market and produce content for the new technology.
PHYSICAL PLANT ENHANCEMENTS

With the challenges from the existing roof height, TSE
brainstormed and designed a structure that could be
spun 90 degrees and lifted above the lights allowing for
it to be hidden instead of removed from the facility.
That allowed the design and purchase of a 40 ft. x 12.5
ft. four sided digital video board, the largest in minor
league hockey, with the help of LSI Industries. The
board was custom built so that the video can be viewed
from all angles of the stadium.
The concourse was redesigned with new paint, flooring
and lighting, as well as enhanced sound. Digital
signage was also placed throughout the concourse for
added advertising opportunities and sponsorship
revenue. An awning that was previously impeding
views was removed to create an overall brighter and
open concourse to enhance the fan experience.
Along with the concourse, the concessions were opened
up with new paint, lighting and flooring. With creative
new graphics, a fresh look and taste was put into each
individual stand, allowing for new varieties of menu
items to be incorporated. Digital menus were also
installed in each stand to enhance the ability to sell
more and change unique food items for each event.
The arena had no available location to place an LED
ribbon board. Through creative design and outside the
box thinking, LED monitors were placed in each of the
30 vomitoriums, creating a virtual ribbon.
This
allowed for added advertising revenue and great
promotions to be incorporated for unique plays and
events.
A new production room featuring instant replay was
designed to manage the non-stop action of all Wings
hockey games as well as other outside revenue
generating events. Further enhancements were made
by installing JBL Professional speakers and a Clear-Com
Wireless System.

Before and After
FRANCHISE MANAGEMENT AND
OPERATION IMPROVEMENTS

When TSE walked in the door, there was a realization
that the Wings needed more than a breath of fresh air,
there needed to be a new sense of adrenaline. The
structure of the organization was analyzed, dissected
and then redesigned to improve the lines of
communication.
The initial phase began with a 3-day seminar with the
Wing’s front office to place a structure of efficiencies. A
clear and concise direction was given so that everyone
knew what needed to be done, who was going to take
care of it, and what time frame these projects needed
to be accomplished by.
Within the new structure an increased level of ticket
sales executives were implemented to create a further
reach in the community.
New programs were
introduced along with ongoing sales training so the staff
is generating new sales.

MORE FRANCHISE
IMPROVEMENTS

The new organizational structure also consisted of
the hiring and training of a new staff to handle the
level of show demanded with the new facility
renovations. TSE placed an Executive Producer to
handle all content for the video displays. A full
promotions and production team was hired and
trained by TSE.
With all the facility renovations, it was important to
monetize them so new revenues are generated. A
higher level of show was designed and installed to
create more sponsorship inventory to sell.
Customer service was and is continued to be
stressed among the entire Wings Staff, from ushers
to the top level executives, so that when the fan
enters the parking lot to when the leave for the
night, they are receiving the ultimate fan
experience.
BENEFITS
Fans attending Kalamazoo Wings games and other Wings
Stadium events now see a much more advanced show
production that includes video elements, increased promotions
and higher quality sound.
The Kalamazoo Wings have gained higher sponsorship
revenues thanks to increased inventory provided by the new
video board and all digital signage displays around the facility.
The power of digital signage now allows the club to sell
multiple opportunities in set locations at premium pricing.
The fans are now incorporated into “The Show” with the
inclusion of wireless fan cams for Kiss Cams, fan shots and all
other fan contests. Ticket sales for the season have seen an
increase of more than 22% after a decline the past five
seasons. Overall, the Wings are providing a better experience
from the moment the fan hits the parking lot before the game
to when they leave for the night and have become a leader in
the state of Michigan.

TSE was brought to us as a group that could
help dramatically improve and change the game
day experience here in Kalamazoo. From the
very first meeting with them it was clear they
were experts in their field. Since working with
them, and after my 35 plus years of engaging a
wide range of consultants, TSE stands head and
shoulders above the others. TSE stood shoulder
to shoulder with us making sure we could
execute what we were taught to do. They were
completely dedicated to our success and pushed
us to be a better company and a better
entertainment venue for our fans.

The Miami Marlins event preparation process had
proved to be long and tedious. The team was
spending hours preparing their game day scripts and
creating multiple printable versions for their
operators. Scripts were built as Excel and Word
documents calling for redundant copying and pasting
to keep consistency across versions. Communication
was
al so
chal l engi ng.
Mul ti pl e emai l s
requesting script edits would fill up the producer’s
inbox leading up to and even after the required
deadline. This lead to confusion and improper
execution.
Because scripts were printed, the Marlins were
spending a large sum of money on paper, which was
thrown away immediately after each game. When
changes needed to made during the game, they had
to be radioed to each person and then scribbled on
the script documents. This manual process proved to
cause errors in proper sponsorship execution.
When sponsorship execution was questioned, the
Marlins had to rummage through old scripts or
review the game tape, both of which could take
hours. Not only were the sponsorship execution
requests challenging, but the end of season
sponsorship execution reports required unnecessary
time and resources.
The Marlins knew there had to be a better way to
build, organize and execute their game day scripts
and track sponsorship execution.

SOLUTION

TSE provided the Marlins with an internet-based game management solution, TSE
GameTime ScriptPRO. ScriptPRO was implemented into the Marlin’s game production
process to streamline the entire game day planning and sponsorship execution flow.
The system allows the Marlins to organize all elements of their events throughout the
season in one main internet-based database. If changes are required, updates can be
made in real-time from any internet driven device.
With TSE GameTime
ScriptPRO all crew members have the most up-to-date version of the script at their
fingertips.
The Marlins also implemented the GO LIVE feature as part of. GO LIVE automates
the event script and provides a timestamp function used to ensure sponsorship
execution. Proof of performance reports can now be emailed within minutes.
BENEFITS
The implementation of TSE GameTime ScriptPRO has resulted
in a more efficient event production and execution process at
Marlins Park.
Script changes run smoother, sponsorship
execution is easier and the communication among the
production department and sponsorship department is much
more efficient.
With time saved, and ease of mind that everything is being
executed properly,
the crew is able to focus on other
responsibilities. ScriptPRO’s ability to adapt from day to
day also gives the Marlins the flexibility to create a more
dynamic script. Overall, the Marlins are running a much more
streamlined “Show!”

Our partnership with TSE has been great. As
users of ScriptPRO we couldn’t ask for better
support and response...basically they have a
killer script writing program that will save so
much time. After 15 years in the field, I’m kind
of upset I didn’t think of coming up with this
type of program!

CHALLENGES
The Vermont Lake Monsters approached TSE prior to the
2012 season. They were already one of the leading teams
in the New-York Penn League, however they were in an old
ballpark that lacked any current technology. The ballpark
was run by the University of Vermont and was limited to
what could be done for interior improvements. 2012 would
be the first time audio and video infrastructure changes
would be made to the existing facility.
TSE was hired to oversee all aspects of the project to get
the most possible within budget. A new video board would
be installed along with the controlling software and
consulting services needed to maximize revenues. The city
was also going through a green movement and wanted to
keep the "outdoors" feel of the stadium. The existing
structure was made of wood so the high tech board would
have to be incorporated without eliminating the rustic feel.
With limited space in the production room, there would
have to be some shifting to design control systems to fit
into the small space.
Since the Lake Monsters did not have a prior video board,
TSE would need to consult them on how to sell and
monetize while providing new marketing strategies and
sponsorship inventory.

multiple rounds and evaluation, LSI Industries was chosen to install a new 27 ft. x 16 ft. video
board on the existing wooden structure in left field.
Along with the video board, TSE integrated a new digital production room and TSE GameTime
ScriptPRO - a game management solution the Lake Monsters use to build, organize and execute
their game day scripts and schedules live and in real-time. The production room includes 2 PC’s
and 2 monitors that are used to run ScriptPRO’s GO LIVE along with Sound Director to run the
audio.
In order to maximize the new equipment and create the ultimate fan experience, TSE worked
with the Lake Monsters on designing a new show and trained their employees. New promotions
and sponsorship inventory was designed into the show to maximize potential revenue from the
new equipment.
BENEFITS
Fans attending Vermont Lake Monsters games and other
Centennial Field events are now experiencing an advanced
production with video elements and increased promotions.
With the integration of TSE GameTime ScriptPRO, the
Lake Monsters are much more streamlined on their
preparation and execution from pre-game to post game.
Sponsors are now able to receive proof of performances
reports in minutes. The proof of performance reports
highlight all of the sponsorship’s elements that were
executed throughout the season.
By incorporating TSE’s newly designed show, Lake
Monster fans are now part of the action throughout the
entire game. Overall, the Lake Monsters are providing a
better fan experience from the moment the fan drives into
the parking lot till they leave the stadium following the
game.

Our new video board is a huge addition to
our fan experience, and we owe all of this
success to TSE and the expertise they
provided us.
Kyle Bostwick
Vice President, Vermont Lake Monsters

“

“

After working with TSE on our recent
video board project, I cannot imagine
working with anyone else in the
future.
From the beginning planning
stages, understanding our budget and
ensuring we got the best product for the
money, to the implementation of the final
project, TSE proved to be an invaluable
resource that oversaw this process in a
seamless manner.

  • 24. TSE Equipment Highlights:  LSI Industries 40 ft. x 12.5 ft. full four sided CHALLENGES TSE was approached by the Kalamazoo Wings to oversee an interior renovation of Wings Stadium in Kalamazoo, MI. The technology was antiquated and in poor working condition. No significant upgrades were made since the facility opened in 1974. Along with the facility the Wing's needed an overall franchise renovation. Since the time they opened the facility, the stadium was considered a "true hockey" facility rather than an entertainment facility. The Wings wanted to take the franchise to a brand new direction while revitalizing it in the community. TSE was brought in to oversee the physical plan changes while breathing fresh new life into the organization. digital video board           Philips 46” LCD monitors, 1920x1080 Digital Media Players SD/HD 5.8GHz RF Microwave Camera System 15” subwoofer JBL professional JBL Professional Full Array Cabinets Sound Director premium software package Broadcast Pix SD video production system with 1ME Control Panel and 4 SDI Inputs 16 x 16 SDI Video Matrix Switcher Clear-Com Wireless Base Station, Transmitters and Headsets Multi-Channel HD/SD Slow Motion Replay TSE Consulting Services Provided:  TSE GameTime ScriptPRO System and Training  TSE GameTime SponsorPRO System and Training  3-Day Customer Service Training  Placing of an Executive Producer  Staffing, Training and Deployment of a full Game MORE CHALLENGES   Day Staff Show Preparation and Evaluation Ticket Training and Sales Consultation Individual challenges were met throughout the scope of each part of the renovation. When it came to the facility, the goal was to incorporate a new video board while totally revamping the concourse and concessions. Both the concourse and concessions were old, dark and cramped. The concessions were selling close to the same items at each location. The video board faced unique limitations due to the existing roof structure, which is very low. In the past, the previous score board would be lowered and carted out of the facility when non-hockey events were being held. The new board would also be hidden from view when needed while being much larger in size. There was also the challenge of no location allowed for a ribbon board. When it came to the Wings franchise, over their 30+ years of existence, they did things consistent but in the old fashion way. They had novel approaches but needed an overhaul of operations to support the facility and to better sell tickets and sponsorship sales. There was also a need for new internal techniques on how to market and produce content for the new technology.
  • 25. PHYSICAL PLANT ENHANCEMENTS With the challenges from the existing roof height, TSE brainstormed and designed a structure that could be spun 90 degrees and lifted above the lights allowing for it to be hidden instead of removed from the facility. That allowed the design and purchase of a 40 ft. x 12.5 ft. four sided digital video board, the largest in minor league hockey, with the help of LSI Industries. The board was custom built so that the video can be viewed from all angles of the stadium. The concourse was redesigned with new paint, flooring and lighting, as well as enhanced sound. Digital signage was also placed throughout the concourse for added advertising opportunities and sponsorship revenue. An awning that was previously impeding views was removed to create an overall brighter and open concourse to enhance the fan experience. Along with the concourse, the concessions were opened up with new paint, lighting and flooring. With creative new graphics, a fresh look and taste was put into each individual stand, allowing for new varieties of menu items to be incorporated. Digital menus were also installed in each stand to enhance the ability to sell more and change unique food items for each event. The arena had no available location to place an LED ribbon board. Through creative design and outside the box thinking, LED monitors were placed in each of the 30 vomitoriums, creating a virtual ribbon. This allowed for added advertising revenue and great promotions to be incorporated for unique plays and events. A new production room featuring instant replay was designed to manage the non-stop action of all Wings hockey games as well as other outside revenue generating events. Further enhancements were made by installing JBL Professional speakers and a Clear-Com Wireless System. Before and After
  • 26. FRANCHISE MANAGEMENT AND OPERATION IMPROVEMENTS When TSE walked in the door, there was a realization that the Wings needed more than a breath of fresh air, there needed to be a new sense of adrenaline. The structure of the organization was analyzed, dissected and then redesigned to improve the lines of communication. The initial phase began with a 3-day seminar with the Wing’s front office to place a structure of efficiencies. A clear and concise direction was given so that everyone knew what needed to be done, who was going to take care of it, and what time frame these projects needed to be accomplished by. Within the new structure an increased level of ticket sales executives were implemented to create a further reach in the community. New programs were introduced along with ongoing sales training so the staff is generating new sales. MORE FRANCHISE IMPROVEMENTS The new organizational structure also consisted of the hiring and training of a new staff to handle the level of show demanded with the new facility renovations. TSE placed an Executive Producer to handle all content for the video displays. A full promotions and production team was hired and trained by TSE. With all the facility renovations, it was important to monetize them so new revenues are generated. A higher level of show was designed and installed to create more sponsorship inventory to sell. Customer service was and is continued to be stressed among the entire Wings Staff, from ushers to the top level executives, so that when the fan enters the parking lot to when the leave for the night, they are receiving the ultimate fan experience.
  • 27. BENEFITS Fans attending Kalamazoo Wings games and other Wings Stadium events now see a much more advanced show production that includes video elements, increased promotions and higher quality sound. The Kalamazoo Wings have gained higher sponsorship revenues thanks to increased inventory provided by the new video board and all digital signage displays around the facility. The power of digital signage now allows the club to sell multiple opportunities in set locations at premium pricing. The fans are now incorporated into “The Show” with the inclusion of wireless fan cams for Kiss Cams, fan shots and all other fan contests. Ticket sales for the season have seen an increase of more than 22% after a decline the past five seasons. Overall, the Wings are providing a better experience from the moment the fan hits the parking lot before the game to when they leave for the night and have become a leader in the state of Michigan. Ron Elenbaas CEO of Greenleaf Hospitality Group, Owners of the Kalamazoo Wings “ “ TSE was brought to us as a group that could help dramatically improve and change the game day experience here in Kalamazoo. From the very first meeting with them it was clear they were experts in their field. Since working with them, and after my 35 plus years of engaging a wide range of consultants, TSE stands head and shoulders above the others. TSE stood shoulder to shoulder with us making sure we could execute what we were taught to do. They were completely dedicated to our success and pushed us to be a better company and a better entertainment venue for our fans. • 30. CHALLENGES TSE Services Provided:  TSE GameTime ScriptPRO  GT Production Task List  GT BottomLine  Training  Support  On-Site Visit with Support and Training The Miami Marlins event preparation process had proved to be long and tedious. The team was spending hours preparing their game day scripts and creating multiple printable versions for their operators. Scripts were built as Excel and Word documents calling for redundant copying and pasting to keep consistency across versions. Communication was al so chal l engi ng. Mul ti pl e emai l s requesting script edits would fill up the producer’s inbox leading up to and even after the required deadline. This lead to confusion and improper execution. Because scripts were printed, the Marlins were spending a large sum of money on paper, which was thrown away immediately after each game. When changes needed to made during the game, they had to be radioed to each person and then scribbled on the script documents. This manual process proved to cause errors in proper sponsorship execution. When sponsorship execution was questioned, the Marlins had to rummage through old scripts or review the game tape, both of which could take hours. Not only were the sponsorship execution requests challenging, but the end of season sponsorship execution reports required unnecessary time and resources. The Marlins knew there had to be a better way to build, organize and execute their game day scripts and track sponsorship execution. SOLUTION TSE provided the Marlins with an internet-based game management solution, TSE GameTime ScriptPRO. ScriptPRO was implemented into the Marlin’s game production process to streamline the entire game day planning and sponsorship execution flow. The system allows the Marlins to organize all elements of their events throughout the season in one main internet-based database. If changes are required, updates can be made in real-time from any internet driven device. With TSE GameTime ScriptPRO all crew members have the most up-to-date version of the script at their fingertips. The Marlins also implemented the GO LIVE feature as part of. GO LIVE automates the event script and provides a timestamp function used to ensure sponsorship execution. Proof of performance reports can now be emailed within minutes.
  • 31. BENEFITS The implementation of TSE GameTime ScriptPRO has resulted in a more efficient event production and execution process at Marlins Park. Script changes run smoother, sponsorship execution is easier and the communication among the production department and sponsorship department is much more efficient. With time saved, and ease of mind that everything is being executed properly, the crew is able to focus on other responsibilities. ScriptPRO’s ability to adapt from day to day also gives the Marlins the flexibility to create a more dynamic script. Overall, the Marlins are running a much more streamlined “Show!” Our partnership with TSE has been great. As users of ScriptPRO we couldn’t ask for better support and response...basically they have a killer script writing program that will save so much time. After 15 years in the field, I’m kind of upset I didn’t think of coming up with this type of program! • 34. CHALLENGES The Vermont Lake Monsters approached TSE prior to the 2012 season. They were already one of the leading teams in the New-York Penn League, however they were in an old ballpark that lacked any current technology. The ballpark was run by the University of Vermont and was limited to what could be done for interior improvements. 2012 would be the first time audio and video infrastructure changes would be made to the existing facility. TSE was hired to oversee all aspects of the project to get the most possible within budget. A new video board would be installed along with the controlling software and consulting services needed to maximize revenues. The city was also going through a green movement and wanted to keep the "outdoors" feel of the stadium. The existing structure was made of wood so the high tech board would have to be incorporated without eliminating the rustic feel. With limited space in the production room, there would have to be some shifting to design control systems to fit into the small space. Since the Lake Monsters did not have a prior video board, TSE would need to consult them on how to sell and monetize while providing new marketing strategies and sponsorship inventory. TSE Equipment Services Provided:  LS Industries 27 ft. x 16 ft. Video Board  Toshiba DR430 DVD Recorder  ArKaos GrandVJ Software License  Sound Director audio media software  DataVideo– MS500 Switcher and LCD Kit  B-Stock Canon XL2 MiniDV 3CCD Camcorder  AVL-3 digital wireless video TX/RX kit  2 PC’s and Monitors for ScriptPRO  Adobe Software TSE Consulting Services Provided:  Written RFP for Video Board  TSE GameTime ScriptPRO System and Training  20th Season Logo Design Package  Inventory Analysis Seminar  Show Planning  Show Rehearsal  Customer Service Orientation  Opening Night Coverage  Think Tanks and Oversight SOLUTION TSE designed the video board RFP that was sent to select companies across the country. After multiple rounds and evaluation, LSI Industries was chosen to install a new 27 ft. x 16 ft. video board on the existing wooden structure in left field. Along with the video board, TSE integrated a new digital production room and TSE GameTime ScriptPRO - a game management solution the Lake Monsters use to build, organize and execute their game day scripts and schedules live and in real-time. The production room includes 2 PC’s and 2 monitors that are used to run ScriptPRO’s GO LIVE along with Sound Director to run the audio. In order to maximize the new equipment and create the ultimate fan experience, TSE worked with the Lake Monsters on designing a new show and trained their employees. New promotions and sponsorship inventory was designed into the show to maximize potential revenue from the new equipment.
  • 35. BENEFITS Fans attending Vermont Lake Monsters games and other Centennial Field events are now experiencing an advanced production with video elements and increased promotions. With the integration of TSE GameTime ScriptPRO, the Lake Monsters are much more streamlined on their preparation and execution from pre-game to post game. Sponsors are now able to receive proof of performances reports in minutes. The proof of performance reports highlight all of the sponsorship’s elements that were executed throughout the season. By incorporating TSE’s newly designed show, Lake Monster fans are now part of the action throughout the entire game. Overall, the Lake Monsters are providing a better fan experience from the moment the fan drives into the parking lot till they leave the stadium following the game. Our new video board is a huge addition to our fan experience, and we owe all of this success to TSE and the expertise they provided us. Kyle Bostwick Vice President, Vermont Lake Monsters “ “ After working with TSE on our recent video board project, I cannot imagine working with anyone else in the future. From the beginning planning stages, understanding our budget and ensuring we got the best product for the money, to the implementation of the final project, TSE proved to be an invaluable resource that oversaw this process in a seamless manner.
