WHAT HAPPENS WHEN YOU COMPARE 2THINGS WITH AN ADJECTIVE? When you have 2 nouns to compare with the same adjective you add –er to the end of one of the adjectives to show the comparison. fat – fatter thin – thinner dark - darker

MORE COMPARISON WITH -ER This is a small pencil. This is a smaller pencil.
WHEN COMPARING 3 THINGS When you compare 3 things with an adjective you start with the adjective, then add –er to the 2nd comparison and finally –est is added to the final comparison. cute – cuter – cutest smooth – smoother- smoothest wet – wetter - wettest
