What is the Big Bang Theory? It is the theory that the universe originated sometime between 10 billion and 20 billion years ago from an explosion of a small volume of matter at an extremely high density and temperature.
Big Bang Fun Facts <ul><li>At the point of this event, all of the matter and energy of space was contained at a single point. </li></ul><ul><li>What existed prior, is completely unknown and is a matter of research. </li></ul><ul><li>This event filled space with all of the particles of the embryonic universe. </li></ul><ul><li>It was an explosion within itself and laid the foundation of the universe. </li></ul>
The Controversy Some experts say that there really was no explosion; rather that there was, and continues to be, an expansion. Instead of imaging a balloon popping, imagine a small balloon expanding into the size of our current universe.
String Theory ONE OF THE HARDEST THEORIES TO GRASP BY HUMAN BEINGS.
What is the String Theory? A theory that hypothesizes that subatomic particles are one-dimensional strings.
String Theory Facts <ul><li>The String Theory was originally an explanation for the observed relationship between mass and spin for certain particles called hadrons. </li></ul><ul><li>Particles in the String Theory arise as excitations of the string, and included zero mass and two units of spin. </li></ul><ul><li>This led early string theorists to propose that the string theory not be applied as a theory of hadronic particles, but as a theory of quantum gravity. </li></ul><ul><li>String theories are classified according to whether or not the strings are required to be closed loops and whether or not the particle spectrum includes fermions. </li></ul><ul><li>In order to include fermions in string theory, there must be a special kind of symmetry called super symmetry. </li></ul><ul><li>Super Symmetry: For every boson (particle that transmits a force) there is corresponding fermions (particle that makes up matter). </li></ul><ul><li>Super symmetry relates the particles that transmit forces to the particles that make up matter. </li></ul><ul><li>Super symmetric particles are too massive to be detected at current accelerators. </li></ul>
What is the Creationist Theory? The theory that God created the universe, Earth, and human nature -- stated in the Holy Bible.
Facts, Facts, & M ore Facts! <ul><li>The Bible states that God created the earth and the universe in seven days. </li></ul><ul><li>There are two creationism theories: Young Earth Creationism and the Omphalos Hypothesis </li></ul><ul><li>Based a lot of it’s facts on the book of the Bible, Genesis. </li></ul><ul><li>The principle of the Catholic Church states that the universe was created by God from a single atom, much like Christ's miracle of multiplying the loaves of bread and fishes. </li></ul><ul><li>Young Earth Creationism- </li></ul><ul><li>Meaning that only about 10,000 years have passed since God created the Earth and the universe. </li></ul><ul><li>This theory takes Biblical creationism literally. </li></ul><ul><li>Evolution plays in this form of the theory. </li></ul><ul><li>The Omphalos Hypothesis- </li></ul><ul><li>States that God created the Earth and the universe in its mature form. </li></ul><ul><li>They tried using nature to date when the earth was created but failed. </li></ul><ul><li>Those who believed in this theory believe that dinosaurs were created at the beginning of time. </li></ul>
Over time, scientists have developed many theories to systematically explain how the universe was created, but many of these are left incomplete. The Big Bang theory needs improvement. It lacks answered questions and explained observations. The String Theory is intricate, complex, and difficult to understand. Lastly, when it comes to the Creationist Theory, it appears to have unanswered questions, but it may be that it doesn't fit into a secular belief system. I believe that there is no accurate scientific theory that can explain the creation of the universe. However, the Creationist Theory attempts to explain creation in a way that aligns with my beliefs. The phrase “something cannot be made out of nothing" holds true for life on earth. Therefore, the need for a supernatural God’s power to create something as immense as the universe, is vital. Eventually the question will come up “well then how was God created?” The answer is “He was always there.” By faith, which is believing in something that is unseen, I believe that God was and always was. It is also by faith that people believe the Big Bang and the String Theory took place, no one can be sure that a big expansion happened in the creation of the universe. After God created the universe, it is very possible that an event such as the Big Bang happened, but truthfully nobody knows what occurred before the Big Bang. In the end, the theory I believe to be most accurate is the Creationist Theory.
