  2. 2. INTRODUCTION    The  return  of  TEDxBaltimore  to  the  Charm  City  heralds  an  ambitious  vision  that  embraces  ideas,  people,  and  action  to  craft  a  Baltimore  narrative  for  the  21st  century.  This  is  an  explicit  effort  to  align  our  hometown  with  the  mission  of  "ideas  worth  spreading."    TEDxBaltimore  is  a  gathering  of  leaders  and  thinkers  that  are  using  bold  ideas  and  innovative  technologies  to  reshape  our  hometown.  Following  the  TED  template,  TEDxBaltimore  fulfills  its  mission  by  sparking  dialogue  and  connections.  The  twenty-‐one  speakers  reflect  our  communitys  rich  diversity  and  full  potential.    As  an  event  organized  by  Baltimore  for  Baltimore,  we  pro-‐actively  engaged  the  community  and  sought  participation  at  every  opportunity:  from  organizing  committee,  event  staffing,  conference  participants  to  ancillary  programs.    With  an  added  objective  of  enriching  the  roster  of  attendees  and  catalyzing  interactions  among  them,  we  extended  complimentary  invitations  to  several  non-‐profit  organizations.  Additionally,  special  guests  included  twenty-‐two  neighbor  TEDx  organizers,  representing:    • TEDxChesterRiver   • TEDxTowsonU   • TEDxVillanovaU  • TEDxNashville   • TEDxMidAtlantic   • TEDxTempleU  • TEDxYouth  Baltimore   • TEDxRCP   • TEDxPotomac  • TEDxYouth  Timonium          Community  members  were  provided  three  options  for  procuring  a  ticket  to  the  January  25  conference:     • Online  purchase  (with  student  and  other  discounts)   • Volunteer  duty  at  the  conference   • Completion  of  a  #MediaBrigade  mission    Our  TEDxBaltimore:  Re-‐wired  effort,  which  speaks  of  reshaping  the  Charm  City,  concludes  in  a  time  capsule  at  the  TED  Active  2013  conference.  We  are  delivering  a  memory  stick  with  video  of  community  responses  to  the  question  “How  will  Baltimore  change  in  5  years?”  The  capsule  is  to  be  opened  in  2018  and  our  footage  returned  in  a  parcel  addressed  to  The  Honorable  Mayor,  City  of  Baltimore.           TEDxBaltimore  /  January  25,  2013  /  tedxbaltimore.com   Page 2 of 11
