As a language learning company, we obtain multilingual material using different systems, including a crawler for multilingual websites, document alignment system, online multilingual spreadsheets, multilingual lyrics for songs, online audio recorder and more. In our presentation, we show how we do this.

- Welcome to the first session - my name is Hussein Ghaly representing Champolu company
- Being classified as invaders makes me feel I’m one of those guys :)
- But actually, we come in peace. We are a language learning company, with this innovative approach called bilingual minimal pairs, which focuses on games, songs, and other fun activities, you can find more about this in our website… all these are based on multilingual material.
- So we are like everyone here, looking for quality multilingual material to enhance what we offer.
- The internet is full of all of these multilingual websites, where there is a wealth of multilingual material that can be obtained.
- So the way to get this material from the web is by using this so called web-crawler, which is an automated software (a bot) that browses the internet and fetches stuff.
- But this is not an easy job - the internet is not always friendly with these robots :)
- And if you look more closely, things don’t always align nicely when it comes to each piece of the website
- So we created this interface, where you can indicate the source and target pages

- Then you get a pair of web pages, with aligned content. This aligned content can be exported to TMX, TBX or can be used for concordance search

- This helps you quickly collect and standardize the needed terminology, then you can export it to the needed formats
- And in language learning, text alone is not enough, learners must know the pronunciation of everything, that’s why we have developed this online recorder to complement the multilingual sheet in providing the audio for the translated sentences
- Songs are fun, and you can usually have it subtitled in one language or another, but what if you do it in both, and what about if you mark each part of the lyrics in one language to its equivalent?
- So, as you see, multilingual material is everywhere, the point is just how to get it and make use of it!
