Editor's Notes

  1. All improvements on 2009/10, except Follow Up in Eastern BCU. EASE OF CONTACT – only Northern is meeting the 10/11 target. This may be due to the first person they spoke usually being able to take all their details and high satisfaction with the time it took for officers to arrive. ACTIONS TAKEN – Only Eastern is meeting the 10/11 target. This may be due to a higher proportion of victims having been given a crime reference number and contact details. FOLLOW UP – Although Eastern has a higher level of satisfaction than Northern, this still represents a decline from last year’s performance. Eastern’s victims were more likely to feel they were kept informed as often as they needed (83% satisfied) but were less likely to have been kept informed without asking (79%) or to have been told the outcome of their investigation (33%). Fewer Northern victims agreed they had been kept informed as often as needed (77%) and that those updates were provided without asking (77%). 37% of Northern’s victims had been told of the outcome of their investigation. TREATMENT – Northern has seen an increase on last year’s performance with 94.6% satisfied with treatment, the underlying diagnostic questions show victims in Northern BCU are usually below the force average, being the least satisfied with the level of reassurance provided by the officers, how polite and sympathetic the officers were and also how fairly they felt they were treated. Central BCU was top for reassurance and listening to what victims had to say which may explain the victim satisfaction with treatment being on target. WHOLE EXPERIENCE
