CITY AND COUNTY OF SWANSEA • DINAS A SIR ABERTAWE What is the Local Development Plan? • An LDP is a Land Use Planning Document. • When it is adopted it will form the basis of all planning decisions. • The LDP is one of the 4 key salutatory documents that the Council has to produce. • It will impact on everyone who lives, works, visits and invests in Swansea.

CITY AND COUNTY OF SWANSEA • DINAS A SIR ABERTAWE The Key Features • The LDP is based on a solid evidence base (unlike previous plans). • The LDP must be extensively consulted on, and appropriate community consultation is essential. • Four year process – the previous plan took 10 years! • Essential to work with other Council departments (it is Corporate ∴ = EVERYONE) and Key Stakeholders (CCW, DCWW, EAW etc) • Must be found ‘Sound’ by a WAG appointed independent inspector from the Planning Inspectorate.

Delivery Agreement, Supplementary Planning Guidance, Evidence Gathering, SEA Scoping, HRA 2/3. Plan Preparation, Public Participation & Consultation on Strategic Options, Preferred Strategy, Candidate Sites, SEA 4. Publish, Consider Representations 5. Independent Examination 6. Inspector’s Report 7. Adoption 8. Annual Monitoring & Review Dates 2009/10 2010/12 2012/13 2013/14 2014 2014 Dates from the LDP Delivery Agreement

It was agreed by Council on 10th September 2009 • WAG Approved the Delivery Agreement on the 29th October 2009 • Formal start date of the LDP was Monday 2nd August 2010
