  6. 6. Getting Set Up- Your PPS number<br />If you are moving to Ireland to work you will need to register for a PPS number. It is a unique identifier for use in any transactions you may have with public bodies. <br />To apply:<br />Identify your local Social Security Office online<br />In the office you will need to show your passport or National Identity Card<br />Proof of Address (Bill, letter etc)<br />OR<br />Letter from Employer. <br />They will talk you through the necessary steps and get you set up. <br />You will be notified of your PPS Number by the issue of a letter of notification, sent automatically to the address given on the application form, REG 1.
