Association of Energy Users in Finland (ELFi)  is an energy industry interest group focusing on the electricity market.  is to promote the position of large electricity users in the energy market, to promote competition and supply in the production, distribution, transmission and sale of energy, and to promote the functioning of the energy market in general.  The mission of the association is to promote the efficient use of energy and increase the energy expertise of its members.  Full member  A legal entity operating in Finland that is, directly or through its owners, a net buyer of electricity in the Nordic countries  annual electricity consumption is at least 30 GWh

Our policy  We promote understanding of the public authorities, policy makers and members of the electricity market.  We address market failures proactively, argumentatively and constructively.  ELFi enjoys the trust of decision- makers and authorities as an expert in the electricity market.  We recognize the importance of EU influence as part of the overall influence.

Strategic goals Competitiveness ☀ The total cost of electricity is competitive Electricity market ☀ The markets are liquid, transparent and open to competition ☀ Electricity Consumers have an equal position in the electricity market, legislation and regulatory cooperation Security of supply ☀ Finland is self-sufficient with power flexibility in peak power situations (Adequate domestic production and transmission connections) ☀ 90% of the time bottlenecks do not limit the electricity market between Sweden and Finland Circular economy ☀ Decision-makers promote sustainable development where the total cost of electricity does not increase
  7. 7. ELFi’s achievements 1. Postponement (2 years) of the EU’s MSR 2. Compensation for indirect CO2 costs from 2016 => Now under decision support for electrification 2021=> 3. Reduction in the VoLL max. price ceiling to EU regulations 4. New cross border connection between Finland and Sweden 5. Reduction of electricity tax to the EU minimum level (2021- >) 6. Lowering profit for DSOs (currently under process in the Parliament )
  8. 8. Our members use 20% of the Finnish electricity consumption. They operating in the industry, trade and service sectors. All members are active market parties, net-buyers in the Nordic electricity market.
