In managing the availability of data, a potentially significant cost that is becoming more of a “must have” as opposed to a “nice to have” is a business continuity plan that supports the information availability needs of the organisation. However, traditional means of recovery, i.e. tape based recovery, can for many no longer achieve the Recovery Time Objective (RTO) of the critical applications and data.
The problem of managing data will continue to grow as organisations develop and tune their appetite for online, real-time, 24x7 information availability. As the management of the primary data store builds, so does the headache of effectively managing the recovery of this information post a disruptive event.
