  5. 5. WAT TRAIMIT. History- Wat Traimit is thought to date from the 13th century. The Golden Buddha image is about 900 years old and is cast in the Sukhothai style. It is believed to have been brought first to Ayutthaya.
  6. 6. WHAT TO SEE>Traimit is a small chapel containing the Golden Buddha, which is the worlds largest solid-gold Buddha. The graceful seated Buddha is nearly 10 feet high and weighs over 5 tons.>This powerful image has such a bright, reflective surface , with such richness and purity that even the most jaded are inspired by strength and power.>Pieces of the stucco that once hid remarkable treasure.

Art historians, however, generally believe that it was crafted in 14th-century Thailand.> The Emerald Buddha sits atop a huge gold altar in the center of the temple.   9. 9. WAT PHO History> Wat Pho was built as a restoration of an earlier temple on the same site, Wat Phodharam, with work beginning in 1788. It was restored and extended in the reign of King Rama III, and restored again in 1982.> Wat Pho is the birthplace of traditional Thai massage.> During the Rama III restoration plaques inscribed with medical texts were placed around the temple, while in 1962 a school for traditional medicine and massage was established .

Wat Pho is the largest and oldest Wat in Bangkok and is home to more than 1,000 Buddha images, more than any other temple in the country.>It also shelters the largest Buddha image in Thailand: the Reclining Buddha Created as part of Rama IIIs restoration (1824-51), the Reclining Buddha is 46 meters long and 15 meters high.

WAT ARUN. History>Wat Arun was built in the days of Thailands ancient capital of Ayutthaya, and was originally known as Wat Makok>In the ensuring era when Thonburi was capital, King Taksin changed the name to Wat Chaeng.>King Rama II enlarged the central prang and changed the temples name to Wat Arunratchatharam. The work was finished by King Rama III.

WHAT TO SEE>The outstanding feature of Wat Arun is its central prang (a prang is a Khmer-style pagoda), which is about 80 meters tall.>Around the base of the prang are various sculptures of ancient Chinese soldiers and animals. Over the second terrace four statues of the Hindu god Indra riding on Erawan.>There are two temple guardian figures in front. Characters from the Hindu epic Ramayana, the white figure is named Sahassateja and the green one is known as Tasakanth.
  13. 13. Vimanmek Mansion> The first permanent residence in Dusit Garden was Vimanmek Mansion, built in 1900 by the royal command of King Rama V. The mansion was in fact his former Summer Palace>Vimanmek Mansion is the largest residence in Dusit Garden. Its elaborate architectural style reflects a western influence.

SUAN PAKKAD PALACE>The Suan Pakkad Palace is the first museum in Thailand convert their private residence, built in the traditional Thai style opened in 1952 , and located on 6 Rai on Sri Ayudhya Road,> The Suan Pakkad Palace is a combination of fine arts and ancient artifacts from the era of H.R.H. Prince Paribatra Sukhumbandhu, son of His Majesty King Chulalongkorn, Rama V and Her Majesty Queen Sukhumala Marasri.
