  1. 1. Reaching Out Spreading God’s Word in Sudan.
  2. 2. Introduction a few facts. <ul><li>Sudan is a big place, really big. </li></ul><ul><li>It’s as big as Europe. </li></ul><ul><li>Churches in a country are divided into Dioceses. Each Diocese has a Bishop. </li></ul><ul><li>The Diocese of Salisbury is a good example. </li></ul><ul><li>Sudan has 24 Dioceses, each wants to tell people about God. </li></ul>
  3. 3. The Problem <ul><li>In Sudan even the good roads are bad. </li></ul>
  4. 4. More Problems <ul><li>Cars break down on bad roads. </li></ul><ul><li>There are almost no garages. </li></ul><ul><li>Walking is just too slow. </li></ul><ul><li>Reaching out to people isn’t easy. </li></ul>
  5. 5. The Solution <ul><li>Bicycles allow people to reach out further. </li></ul>
  6. 6. What This All Means <ul><li>Priests can visit more people. </li></ul><ul><li>More people hear God’s word. </li></ul><ul><li>The church wants to help people learn about God. </li></ul><ul><li>So that they can reach out to God. </li></ul>
  7. 7. The Bishops Synod. <ul><li>Here are all the Bishops of Sudan. </li></ul><ul><li>They have just had a meeting called a Synod. </li></ul><ul><li>They want to reach out to everyone in Sudan – it’s a very big job. </li></ul>

Discussion Time. <ul><li>If you were a Bishop how would you reach out to people and tell them about God. </li></ul><ul><li>Is reaching out easier or harder in Sudan. </li></ul><ul><li>What things can we do to help. </li></ul><ul><li>Juba Diocese wants 90 bicycles. Would helping them be a good thing. </li></ul><ul><li>How much does a bicycle cost. </li></ul>
