  1. 1. REGIONAL MUSIC BUSINESS <ul><li>In last few years bangla band has emerged as a separate genre & established its foothold strongly in the Regional music portfolio. Presently it contributes around 36% to the total Bengali music business. </li></ul><ul><li>The largest selling album in this genre is “Jatra Suru”(Times music) by Bhoomi, which has sold, approximately more than 3 lac copies. Even their 4th album “Pal Chuteche” (HMV) has sold more than 20,000 copies. </li></ul>

REGIONAL MUSIC BUSINESS <ul><li>The second largest selling bangla band album is “Chaw”(Asha audio) by Chandrabindoo-which has sold more than 1 Lac copies. </li></ul><ul><li>The other popular bands are: Fossils,Cactus,Paraspathar,Dohar,Sahar,Agantuk... </li></ul><ul><li>An important fact is that bangla bands have successfully entered rural markets also. </li></ul>

In the last two years the most successful Bengali OST was “Saathi”-which has sold more than 3 lacs units. </li></ul><ul><li>In this ever-changing scenario Rabindrasangeet is still playing a major role having a steady market share of 29%. </li></ul><ul><li>In Bengali modern song category Pratik, Raghav, Rupankar have had some hits apart from established artists like Nachiketa, Suman, Srikanto, Indrani, Lopamudra. However, Lopamudra’s last album launched in June-July’04 didn’t even sell 2000 copies. </li></ul>

This will be an out of store campaign to generate “Buzz” around the band. We need to print about 1000 flyers and hire 2 – 3 boys @ Rs.100 – Rs.150 per-day to distribute these in prominent locations - malls, movie halls, hangouts. </li></ul><ul><li>POSTERS </li></ul><ul><li>Need to print about 500 standard size posters to be put up mainly in Stores and A+ and A category retail outlets. </li></ul>
  8. 8. BANGLA - LAUNCH PLAN <ul><li>LAUNCH </li></ul><ul><li>Live Performance – Music World & Planet M </li></ul><ul><li>Band Visit - Band visit is a must to launch a new regional product. They will be required to perform in stores and attend press conferences. </li></ul><ul><li>Also, I am trying to organize a full fledged concert. The cost implications will be transportation, food & beverage and sound specifications of the band (if any), however the band has to perform free, keeping in mind that they are promoting their album. In case, if there are ticket sales they will be retained by the promoter. </li></ul><ul><li>A write up on the band is required about the band, their influences and future plans. </li></ul>

BANGLA - LAUNCH PLAN <ul><li>TV </li></ul><ul><li>Need to tie up with the following channels for rotation of videos: Tara Bangla, ATN Bangla, Akash Bangla or Alpha Bangla. </li></ul><ul><li>Will need the Video “Kalare” in Beta or DVD format for this. </li></ul><ul><li>Radio </li></ul><ul><li>Amaar FM is the only station which plays Bengali music, and is quite popular among the listeners of this genre of music. It is the No.2 radio station in Calcutta after Radio Mirchi (66%) with 22% of market share. </li></ul><ul><li>A 15 sec spot for 2 weeks (Mon-Fri) Total: 6spots/day will cost Rs.21,000/- approx. </li></ul>

BANGLA - LAUNCH PLAN <ul><li>Press </li></ul><ul><li>Will have to bring out an advertisement in ABP, the vernacular daily at least on the day the band performs in Music World or alternatively we can insert flyers in the newspapers. A 25 to 30 CC will cost approx. 20-25K, in the entertainment page of ABP. </li></ul><ul><li>Incoda </li></ul><ul><li>Have to check whether there is a centralized deal or not? If not spot will cost for 7 days it will cost for 17 stations Rs.10,000/- approx This will include complimentary video circulation. </li></ul>

BANGLA - LAUNCH PLAN <ul><li>SUGGESTIONS </li></ul><ul><li>Change the album name, to something more easier to recall. “Kinkortobobymodo” is a very difficult for listener's to recall. </li></ul><ul><li>The album cover needs to be in bright colours, the artwork is OK, but the album cover has to be bright and attractive </li></ul><ul><li>“ Kalare” is the main video which needs to be serviced in media. </li></ul>
