  • A community Interest company set up to create a community café in the station buildings of Platform 1 at Yatton Station and work in partnership with the Brandon Trust, a charity, to provide education and employment opportunites for adults with learning difficulties. All the directors work in a voluntary capacity and receive no remuneration. All profits made by the company are ‘locked in’ to the company to be used for the benefit of the project. This status rather than a charitable status allows the company to trade.
  • - A community café in a part of the village where there is no similar recource at present - The provision of training and employment opportunities for local people including those at a particular disadvantage, with learning difficulties. - An enhancement to the Strawberry Line given it’s situation at the start of this route - Improved station facilities for railway users - The bringing into use of an important and historic building in the village
  • What we need: The key issue is to obtain funds to redevelop the station buildings Grade II listed – we have planning permission and listed building consent Mostly in a derelict and dilapidated state Total cost of the project is in the region of £180,000.
  • Big Lottery Fund – our expression of interest has been approved. We have been invited to make a full application to the fund SW Regional Development Agency – our expression of interest has been approved and we have been invited to make a full application We are currently waiting to hear if our application to the Heritage Lottery Fund is successful Department of Transport Access for all fund – we are waiting to hear if our application is successful but will need to match fund any grant.
