Responsible for the timely and safe delivery of public transportation passengers to their destinations and
for customer service issues that arise on the bus while operating it.
La Mesa Police Department, La Mesa, California 04/2002 – 09/2012
Police Sergeant
Supervisor responsible for overseeing 6 - 15 officers during a Patrol or Special Operations shift.
As a Patrol Sergeant, performed simultaneously as the Watch Commander / Acting Lieutenant (ranking
officer on duty) more than 50% of the time. (Worked many Patrol Watch assignments during
“graveyard - shift”, non-business hours). Responsible for all police operations during those times.
Initial on-scene Incident Commander at hundreds of major incident scenes as the first responder
supervisor. Supervised care of victims and witnesses, containment of the scenes and apprehension of
offenders. Acted as the liaison with other police agencies when allied police agencies were involved.
Performed other related duties as assigned (Field Training Coordinator, Reserve Program Coordinator).

Unit, Community Resources Unit, School Resource Officer Unit, Background Investigations Unit,

La Mesa Police Department, La Mesa, California 10/1993 – 04/2002
Police Officer / Master Officer
Uniformed officer responsible for law enforcement activities in La Mesa.
Enforced laws, investigated crimes, interviewed victims and witnesses, made arrests, wrote reports,
testified in court, and worked with the general public to address quality of life issues on an on-going
basis.
After promotion to Master Officer, performed the additional responsibilities of training new officers, as
well as working as the Acting Sergeant when a regular Patrol Sergeant was not available.
