MOMENTS IN MELANESIA
A photo collection from & about Suzanne Noakes
The May 1962 National Geographic magazine
sparked Suzanne’s life long interest in
Melanesian countries within the vast Oceania region.
(Vol. 121, No. 5)
For over 20 years, Suzanne has
traveled extensively throughout
Melanesia as a tour guide and
promoter of travel products into
the South Pacific.
Those travels have given her
access to some magnificent people
and places she has captured in
thousands of photos.
This presentation shares some
of those images.
“I know of no part of the world, the exploration
of which is so flattering to the imagination,
so likely to be fruitful in interesting results,
whether to the naturalist, the ethnologist,
or the geographer, and altogether so well
calculated to gratify the enlightened curiosity
of an adventurous explorer, as the interior
of New Guinea….
the wonders it probably conceals.”
