A Definition of Smart Cities India The purpose of the Smart Cities Mission is to drive economic growth and improve the quality of life of people by enabling local area development and harnessing technology. Area- based development will transform existing areas (retrofit and redevelop), including slums, into better planned ones, thereby improving liveability of the whole City.   7. 7. LET’S BUILD A WINNING MODEL • Create a consortium to deliver end-to-end solutions • Identify targets and find Indian partners • Include BYO Funding • Ensure Indian partners are also winning • Obtain Australian Government support • Promote an overall plan to the Government of India
