2. Introduction
Professional developments leave room
for collaboration and implementation on
new strategies and ideas. Brainstorming
helps build self-reflection on what can
be different. Technology is evolving and
so do we as educators. “In the language
of the ISTE Standards, teachers inspire
student learning and creativity through
designing digital-age learning
experiences, modeling digital-age work,
promoting digital citizenship, and
engaging in professional development
and leadership in schools” (Maloy et al,
2017).
3. Technology Theory
“Technological determinism is a reductionist theory that aims to provide a
causative link between technology and a society’s nature. It tries to explain as to
whom or what could have a controlling power in human affairs. The theory
questions the degree to which human thought or action is influenced by
technological factors” (Technology Determinism. n.d)
4. Benefits of Technology
Creativity
Engagement
Global Awareness
Promotes Digital Literacy
Enhance Communication
Differentiation
Inclusion
5. Facilitating Group Activities
with Technology
Promote Classroom Management on
Devices
Create an appropriate learning
environment
Manage Participation
Group students by learning goals/needs
Ensure Action Planning
Provide resources
6. Conducting Research
Ensuring use of appropriate
websites.
Teaching use of credible sources
Ensure students are familiar with
brainstorming/note-taking
Making Outlines
7. Handheld Devices
Establish Norms
Create syllabus for policies
Create consequences for violations of devices
Model professionalism with devices
Ensure websites are secure
8. Communicating Final Projects
Teaching presentation tool tutorials
Allow various choices of presentations
Practice creating creative and unique work
Make clear expectations for presenting (graphics, images, animations,
etc.)
9. In-Class with one
computer
Pick time slots for student
rotation/Post Schedule
Designate teams for projects and
time slots
Assign specific tasks during
computer use
Create templates for work and
provide feedback
Use for presenting
10. Multi-Computer
Classroom
Set computer teams for research
Set times for independent work w/rotating
schedule
Set up stations without distractions
Ensure all software is the same
Include Ipads. Laptops, and tablets
11. Managing iPad, Tablets,
& Laptops
Manage Software
Download Educational Apps
Ensure students can properly navigate
functions
Be versatile with small, large, and
independent groups/rotations
13. Conclusion
In the following Lunch and Learn professional development the goal was to
enhance the way we use technology based on the resources in the classroom. The
professional development provided ways to navigate these resources in class
amongst groups, individuals, and for collaboration. Learning how to properly
teach students how o conduct research as well as learning the benefits that
technology has on the class and the impact it has on educators when integrating
technology, I lessons of each content area.

Editor's Notes
Today, teachers have online access to detailed and proven teaching and learning materials whose resources provide ongoing lesson development ideas for every teaching situation”. (Maloy et al, 2017). Technology opens doors for educators to develop creative and engaging lessons that heighten attention and focus in content areas.
Facilitating whole group activities helps promote collaboration and participation and gives students a chance to share ideas and how they research relevant topics.
When conducting research and teaching students the importance of being on a platform comes the tools for making sure students don’t compromise any forms of privacy. As with any social medium, teachers must measure the risks and complexities of online communications. All tweets need to be professional in nature and without personal information”. (Maloy et al, 2017).
Handheld devices provide flexibility and are great for simulation and interactive games. Handheld devices can be used for research and pulling information for class discussions. “Examples include accessing the web for class discussion, using technology for presentations or simulations, having students use handheld and wireless devices as part of group projects, and integrating handheld and wireless devices into academic activities”, (Maloy et al, 2017).
Feature a technology you feel confident using with students as the centerpiece of the lesson plan—for instance, PowerPoint or Prezi presentation software, educational videos, interactive websites, research using online learning resources, a student response system, or another interactive technology”. (Maloy et al, 2017).Having technology expectations creates organization for class learning goals with technology incorporation.
For instance, in a classroom with only an interactive whiteboard and one computer, learning will still remain teacher centered and integration will revolve around teacher needs, which are not necessarily student needs”. (Edutopia, 2007). Teaching with one computer can still serve as a valuable resource but will be better to be used for prompts and presentations that are at the center of student learning.
Multi Computer classes help build fast and easy access to search and increase better opportunities for accessing information on topics and increase student performance due to managing time with schedules.
The following handouts will discuss both the agenda and the second handout will help educators identify different types of technology resources so the can incorporate them in their classrooms and learn about sources that can be used for individualization, small, and whole groups.
